Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Numbered Heads Together (NHT) dalam meningkatkan pemahaman matematis siswa kelas V Sekolah Dasar, serta untuk mengetahui peningkatan yang terjadi setelah penerapan model tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam tiga siklus, masing-masing terdiri dari dua pertemuan. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas 5B SDN Cempaka Putih Timur 01 Pagi. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi lembar observasi aktivitas guru dan siswa, serta tes pemahaman matematis siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model NHT mampu meningkatkan pemahaman matematis siswa dari siklus ke siklus. Pada siklus I, pemahaman matematis siswa masih tergolong rendah dengan dominasi pemahaman instrumental. Namun setelah dilakukan perbaikan pembelajaran, terjadi peningkatan yang signifikan pada siklus II dan III, ditunjukkan dengan meningkatnya kemampuan siswa dalam memahami dasar konsep, menerapkan prosedur, serta mengaitkan antar konsep matematika. Interaksi kelompok dan tanggung jawab individu yang dituntut dalam model NHT turut membantu siswa mencapai pemahaman relasional. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe NHT efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman matematis siswa kelas V SD, khususnya pada materi bangun datar. ***** This study aims to describe the implementation of the cooperative learning model Numbered Heads Together (NHT) in improving fifth-grade students’ mathematical understanding and to determine the improvement achieved after its application. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in three cycles, each consisting of two meetings. The subjects were students of class 5B at SDN Cempaka Putih Timur 01 Pagi. Instruments used include observation sheets for teacher and student activities, as well as mathematical understanding tests. The results showed that the application of the NHT model successfully improved students’ mathematical understanding across the cycles. In the first cycle, students' understanding remained at a low level, dominated by instrumental understanding. However, after improvements were made in subsequent cycles, there was a significant increase, as shown by students’ enhanced ability to understand concepts, apply procedures, and connect mathematical ideas. The group interaction and individual accountability emphasized in the NHT model helped students achieve relational understanding. Therefore, it can be concluded that the NHT cooperative learning model is effective in enhancing the mathematical understanding of fifth-grade elementary students, particularly in the topic of plane geometry.
