Abstract

Masa dewasa awal merupakan fase perkembangan di mana individu cenderung membangun hubungan romantis yang lebih serius. Namun, tantangan dalam hubungan romantis pada fase ini adalah munculnya jealousy yang dapat memengaruhi kepuasan dalam hubungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah jealousy memengaruhi relationship satisfaction pada individu dewasa awal yang sedang menjalin hubungan romantis. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 307 individu dewasa awal (usia 18–40 tahun) yang sedang menjalin hubungan romantis. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah Multidimensional Jealousy Scale (MJS) milik Pfeiffer & Wong (1989), dan Relationship Assessment Scale (RAS) milik S.S Hendrick (1998). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh negatif yang signifikan antara jealousy dan relationship satisfaction, di mana semakin tinggi tingkat jealousy yang dirasakan, semakin rendah kepuasan dalam hubungan romantis. Secara keseluruhan, jealousy memberikan kontribusi sebesar 3,2% terhadap penurunan relationship satisfaction. Namun, pada dimensi kognitif memiliki pengaruh sebesar 10,4%, yang menunjukkan bahwa pikiran negatif atau kecurigaan terhadap pasangan lebih kuat memengaruhi rendahnya kepuasan dalam hubungan. However, one of the challenges in this phase is the emergence of jealousy, which can affect satisfaction in the relationship. This study aims to determine whether jealousy influences relationship satisfaction among individuals in early adulthood who are currently in romantic relationships. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The participants consisted of 307 individuals aged 18–40 years who were in romantic relationships. The instruments used were the Multidimensional Jealousy Scale (MJS) developed by Pfeiffer & Wong (1989), and the Relationship Assessment Scale (RAS) developed by S.S. Hendrick (1998). The results showed a significant negative influence of jealousy on relationship satisfaction, indicating that higher levels of jealousy are associated with lower satisfaction in romantic relationships. Overall, jealousy contributed 3.2% to the decrease in relationship satisfaction. However, the cognitive dimension showed a stronger effect, contributing 10.4%, suggesting that negative thoughts or suspicion toward a partner more strongly influence lower satisfaction in the relationship.
