Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerimaan-penolakan orang tua terhadap fear of intimacy pada dewasa awal. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan teknik convenience sampling dan metode pengambilan data menggunakan kuesioner. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu Fear of Intimacy Scale (FIS) untuk mengukur fear of intimacy dan Parental-Acceptance Rejection Questionnaire (PARQ) untuk mengukur penerimaan-penolakan orang tua. Penelitian ini melibatkan 1.034 partisipan berusia 20-30 tahun yang sedang atau pernah berpacaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh penerimaan-penolakan ibu sebesar 3,4% terhadap fear of intimacy secara signifikan. Kemudian, penerimaan-penolakan ayah memiliki pengaruh sebesar 2,9% terhadap fear of intimacy secara signifikan. Dengan demikian, penolakan-penerimaan ibu memiliki pengaruh yang lebih dominan dalam menentukan fear of intimacy pada dewasa awal. Arah pengaruh penerimaan-penolakan ibu dan ayah terhadap fear of intimacy bersifat positif sehingga pengalaman penolakan dari ayah dan ibu akan meningkatkan fear of intimacy pada dewasa awal. ***** This study aims to determine the effect of parental acceptance-rejection on fear of intimacy in early adulthood. This study uses a quantitative approach with convenience sampling technique and data collection method using a questionnaire. The instruments used were the Fear of Intimacy Scale (FIS) to measure fear of intimacy and the Parental-Acceptance Rejection Questionnaire (PARQ) to measure parental acceptance-rejection. The study involved 1,034 participants aged 20-30 years who were currently or had been in a relationship. The results showed that maternal acceptance-rejection had a significant effect of 3.4% on fear of intimacy. Menwhile, father's acceptance-rejection has an influence of 2.9% on the fear of intimacy significantly. Therefore, maternal rejection-acceptance has a more dominant influence in determining the fear of intimacy in early adulthood. The direction of the influence of maternal and paternal acceptance-rejection on fear of intimacy is positive so that the experience of rejection from father and mother will increase the fear of intimacy in early adulthood.
