Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh helicopter parenting terhadap academic self-efficacy pada mahasiswa. Helicopter parenting merupakan pola asuh orang tua yang terlalu terlibat dan protektif dalam kehidupan anak. Sementara itu, academic self-efficacy adalah keyakinan individu terhadap kemampuannya dalam menyelesaikan tugas-tugas akademik dengan baik. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei. Sampel terdiri dari 327 mahasiswa aktif berusia 18–25 tahun yang dipilih menggunakan teknik sampling insidental. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah The Academic Self-Efficacy Scale (TASES) dan Helicopter Parenting Instrument (HPI). Berdasarkan hasil uji korelasi, diperoleh nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,283 (p > 0,05), yang menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara helicopter parenting dan academic self-efficacy. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa tidak terdapat pengaruh antara kedua variabel tersebut. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa terdapat faktor lain yang kemungkinan lebih memengaruhi academic self-efficacy, serta memperkuat pandangan bahwa hubungan antara kedua variabel ini masih belum konsisten dalam berbagai konteks. Helicopter parenting refers to a parenting style characterized by excessive involvement and overprotectiveness in the child's life. Meanwhile, academic self-efficacy is defined as an individual's belief in their ability to successfully complete academic tasks. This research employs a quantitative approach using a survey method. The sample consisted of 327 active students aged 18–25 years, selected using incidental sampling techniques. The instruments used were the Academic Self-Efficacy Scale (TASES) and the Helicopter Parenting Instrument (HPI). Based on the correlation test results, the significance value was 0.283 (p > 0.05), indicating that there is no significant relationship between helicopter parenting and academic self-efficacy. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is no influence between the two variables. These findings suggest that other factors may play a more dominant role in influencing academic self-efficacy and reinforce the view that the relationship between these variables remains inconsistent across different cultural and social contexts.
