Abstract
***** This study examines the performance of Alice's identity and her internal conflicts in Don't Worry Darling (2022), focusing on how desire, reality, and morality interact through the dynamics of the id, ego, and superego. The film explores Alice's journey in navigating existing gender roles and how societal norms influence the decisions and actions she takes. This study aims to analyze Alice's internal conflicts influenced by Freud's psychoanalytic theory and Lindsey and de Beauvoir's gender roles theory. The analysis is conducted solely on the film's script, including narrative and dialogue, without examining semiotic aspects. The findings of this study reveal two main points: first, Alice's internal conflict reflects the dynamics of the id, ego, and superego, where her desires conflict with moral norms and the reality she faces. Second, existing gender roles shape how Alice expresses her identity and influence the decisions she makes, highlighting the complexity of women's agency in facing contemporary societal expectations. This research provides insights into how the film reflects challenges to gender norms and highlights the importance of women's identity in a broader context.
