Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan membaca pemahaman peserta didik tunarungu kelas VI di SLB Negeri 11 Jakarta melalui pendekatan kontekstual. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas VI di SLB Negeri 11 Jakarta. Metode yang digunakan adalah Metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (Classroom Action Research) dengan model yang dirancangkan oleh Kemmis dan McTaggart. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, tes tertulis (pretest dan posttest), serta dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan skor membaca pemahaman pada setiap siklus setelah penerapan pendekatan kontekstual. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan kontekstual berpengaruh positif terhadap peningkatan keterampilan membaca pemahaman pada peserta didik tunarungu kelas VI. Peningkatan ditunjukkan melalui hasil tes yang lebih baik dan keaktifan peserta didik dalam proses pembelajaran. Dengan demikian, pendekatan kontekstual terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan membaca pemahaman peserta didik tunarungu. ***** This study aims to improve the reading comprehension skills of deaf students in grade VI at SLB Negeri 11 Jakarta through a contextual approach. The sample in this study were grade VI students at SLB Negeri 11 Jakarta. The method used was the Classroom Action Research Method with a model designed by Kemmis and McTaggart. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, written tests (pretest and posttest), and documentation. The results of the study showed an increase in reading comprehension scores in each cycle after the application of the contextual approach. The results showed that the contextual approach had a positive effect on improving reading comprehension skills in deaf students in grade VI. The increase was shown through better test results and student activity in the learning process. Thus, the contextual approach has proven effective in improving the reading comprehension skills of deaf students.
