Abstract
***** Conventional shoe drying methods often face challenges due to weather conditions and can damage shoe materials because of uncontrolled heat exposure from sunlight. This study aims to design and develop an automatic shoe dryer based on the Arduino Nano microcontroller, capable of regulating temperature and monitoring moisture levels in real time. The device utilizes an LM35 temperature sensor and a Loadcell weight sensor, with a defrost heater as the heat source, and a fan and blower for hot air circulation. The research employed an engineering design method using a forward engineering approach, emphasizing system development based on predefined functional requirements. Testing was conducted to evaluate sensor accuracy and drying efficiency. Results showed that the device was able to dry shoes in an average time of 77.6 minutes with a water loss percentage of 88.97%. The LM35 sensor exhibited an average deviation of 4.28% compared to a digital thermometer, while the Loadcell showed a 3.16% deviation compared to a digital scale. The system successfully maintained the ideal drying temperature below 50°C, ensuring safety for various shoe materials. The developed system offers an effective and efficient solution for automated shoe drying, providing a practical alternative for shoe care businesses without relying on weather conditions. Keywords: Shoe Dryer, Arduino Nano, LM35 Sensor, Loadcell Sensor, Defrost Heater.
