Abstract

***** As one of the 21st-century skills, collaboration skills have become a need in the modern professional workforce; therefore, empowering these skills through the teaching learning process is essential to facilitate the students with adequate practices. This study aims to examine which aspects of collaboration skills are most prominently demonstrated and how they are practiced within the university setting, specifically in the Microteaching class at the State University of Jakarta. This research, as a qualitative study, identified and analyzed aspects of collaboration skills in the peer microteaching practice using a case study and applying the ACER Collaboration Skills Framework developed by Scoular et al. (2025). This study showed that from 4 learning process, 8 out of 10 aspects within the strand of collaboration skills were practiced throughout the observed learning process, with Strand 1 - Building Shared Understanding became the most practiced strand with 58 times practiced, followed by Strand 2 - Collectively Contributing with 48 times practiced, and Strand 3 - Regulating The Group with 42 times practiced. This study also reveals that when practicing Strand 1, the students tend to use technologies and balance the shared responsibilities. Strand 2 is practiced with respect to the contributions of others and obeying the rules, Strand 3 is practiced with the students adapting with others for the success of the group. The students also shared their experience in practicing collaboration skills and the benefits of it. The results of this study hopefully give insights on how to encourage students to practice various strategies in developing collaboration skills.
