Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar membaca lancar berbasis pendekatan Whole Language dengan menggunakan game Flip Tiles bagi siswa Sekolah Dasar kelas 2. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development (R&D) dengan lima tahap, yaitu analisis, desain, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Pada tahap analisis, dilakukan identifikasi terhadap kesulitan dan kebutuhan guru serta peserta didik dalam pembelajaran keterampilan membaca lancar. Tahap desain menghasilkan rancangan bahan ajar yang dikemas dalam bentuk permainan Flip Tiles. Pada tahap pengembangan, bahan ajar divalidasi oleh ahli materi dengan hasil sebesar 92,22% dan oleh ahli media dengan hasil 97,65%, yang keduanya termasuk dalam kategori sangat layak. Tahap implementasi dilakukan melalui penelitian eksperimen yang menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan keterampilan membaca lancar siswa, dengan hasil uji N-Gain sebesar 0,719 (kategori tinggi). Rata-rata nilai siswa meningkat dari 60,62 menjadi 86,62 setelah penggunaan bahan ajar. Tahap evaluasi menunjukkan tanggapan positif dari guru berdasarkan angket, serta dari siswa berdasarkan hasil wawancara. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, bahan ajar yang dikembangkan dinyatakan layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran membaca lancar di tingkat Sekolah Dasar. Kata kunci: bahan ajar, membaca lancar, whole language, game Flip Tiles, pengembangan ***** This study aims to develop a fluent reading teaching material based on the Whole Language approach using the Flip Tiles game for second-grade elementary school students. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method consisting of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. In the analysis stage, the difficulties and needs of teachers and students in learning fluent reading skills were identified. The design stage produced a teaching material packaged in the form of the Flip Tiles game. During the development stage, the material was validated by a subject matter expert with a score of 92.22% and by a media expert with a score of 97.65%, both categorized as highly feasible. The implementation stage was carried out through an experimental study which showed a significant improvement in students’ reading fluency, with an N-Gain score of 0.719 (categorized as high). Students’ average scores increased from 60.62 to 86.62 after using the developed teaching material. The evaluation stage showed positive responses from teachers based on questionnaires and from students through interviews. Based on these findings, the developed teaching material is considered suitable for use in fluent reading instruction at the elementary school level.
