Abstract

Kata kunci: pengelolaan sampah plastik, coffee shop, Jakarta Selatan, lingkungan perkotaan ***** The rapid growth of coffee shops in urban areas, particularly in South Jakarta, has contributed to an increase in plastic waste generated from daily operational activities, such as the use of singleuse cups, straws, and supporting packaging. This condition has the potential to exacerbate urban environmental problems if it is not accompanied by adequate waste management practices. Therefore, this study aims to analyze plastic waste management in coffee shops in South Jakarta by examining aspects of knowledge, perception, the role of government, waste reduction, waste handling, and the availability of supporting facilities. This study employed a quantitative descriptive method. The population consisted of specialty coffee shops operating in South Jakarta, with a sample of 35 respondents, including baristas and coffee shop owners. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire developed based on indicators of plastic waste management derived from relevant regulations and theoretical frameworks. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative analysis through frequency and percentage calculations, which were then interpreted into the categories of good, moderate, and poor. The results indicate that plastic waste management in coffee shops in South Jakarta is generally categorized as moderate. Respondents’ levels of knowledge and perception regarding plastic waste management tend to be relatively good; however, these have not been fully translated into optimal waste reduction and handling practices. Limited waste sorting facilities, the absence of standardized operational procedures, and insufficient government supervision and socialization were identified as the main obstacles to effective plastic waste management in coffee shops. This study concludes that improving plastic waste management in coffee shops requires synergy between increasing the awareness and knowledge of business actors, providing adequate facilities and infrastructure, and strengthening the government’s role in supervision and policy dissemination. The findings of this study are expected to serve as an evaluation reference andcontribute to efforts to enhance sustainable plastic waste management practices in the urbancoffee shop sector.
