Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan mengenai proses pelaksanaan tradisi babaritan di Kampung Adat Kranggan dan bentuk aktualisasi religiusitas dalam tradisi babaritan di Kampung Adat Kranggan. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada tahapan pelaksanaan babaritan, nilai-nilai dalam tradisi babaritan serta praktik sosial sakral tradisi babaritan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek pada penelitian ini berjumlah 5 informan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada Januari hingga Juni 2025. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi terhadap lingkungan Kampung Adat Kranggan, selanjutnya melakukan wawancara mendalam dengan para informan, dan melakukan dokumentasi terhadap lingkungan dan proses tradisi babaritan di Kampung Adat Kranggan. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori sakralitas dari Emile Durkheim dan teori interpretatif simbolik Clifford Geertz. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tradisi babaritan merupakan praktik budaya sebagai bentuk rasa syukur dan permohonan perlindungan kepada Tuhan serta penghormatan terhadap leluhur dan masyarakat merasa lebih damai jika melaksanakan tradisi babaritan. Tradisi babaritan merupakan praktik sosial sakral yang mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai religius dengan solidaritas sosial. Dibedakan dengan simbol sakral dalam tradisi ini, di antaranya doa bersama, sesaji, leluhur. Tempat dan waktu pelaksanaan , serta pemimpin ritual, serta simbol profan yaitu gotong royong dan makan bersama. Simbol sakral dalam tradisi babaritan menciptakan collective effervescence, sementara simbol profan memperkuat kohesi sosial melalui kerja sama dan kebersamaan. Tradisi babaritan mencerminkan kesadaran kolektif sebagai fakta sosial yang membentuk identitas bersama, norma, dan nilai religius-sosial. Melalui pelaksanaan tradisi secara rutin, tradisi babaritan berfungsi sebagai mekanisme pemeliharaan solidaritas sosial, harmoni antargenerasi, dan menjaga keseimbangan manusia dengan alam. Tradisi babaritan juga mempertahankan identitas komunal dan harmoni di tengah modernitas sebagai warisan budaya. ***** This study aims to explain the process of implementing the babaritan tradition in the Kranggan Traditional Village and the actualization of religiosity within the babaritan traditional. This research focuses on the stages of babaritan implementation, the values within the babaritan tradition, and the sacred social practices of the babaritan tradition. This researcrh uses a qualitative approach with descriptive qualitative methods. The research subjects consisted of 5 informants. The research was conducted from January to June 2025. Data collection techniques were carried out through environmental observations of the Kranggan Traditional Village, followed by in-depth interviews with informants, and documentation of the environment and the process of the babaritan tradition in the Kranggan Village. This study uses Emile Durkheim’s theory of the sacred and Clifford Geertz’s symbolic interpretive theory. The result of this study indicate that the babaritan tradition is a cultural practice as a form of gratitude and a request for protection from God, as well as respect for ancestors and the community feels more peaceful if they carry out the babaritan tradition. The bebaritan tradition is a sacred social practice that integrates religious values with social solidarity. This tradition is distinguished by sacred symbols, including communal prayers, sesaji, ancestors, the place and time of implementation, and the ritual leader, as well as profane symbols, namely cooperation and communal meals. The sacred symbols in the babaritan tradition create a collective effervescence, while profane symbols strengthen social cohesian through cooperation and togetherness. The babaritan tradition reflects collective consciousness as a social fact that forms a shared identity, norms, and religio-social values. Through routine implementation of the tradition, the babaritan tradition functions as a mechanism to maintain social solidarity, harmony between generations, and maintain the balance between humans and nature. The babaritan tradition also maintains communal identity and harmony amidst modernity as a cultural heritage.
