Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran preferensi musik mahasiswa. Preferensi musik sendiri adalah kecenderungan individu untuk menyukai satu atau lebih jenis musik, dan sering didengar. Penelitian ini menggunakan acuan dari penelitian Schwartz dan Fouts (2003) yang mengkategorikan preferensi musik berdasarkan kualitasnya menjadi dua light music dan heavy music, menggunakan alat ukur yang telah diadaptasi Hamzah (2010). Sampel pada penelitian ini mahasiswa yang berkuliah di perguruan tinggi negeri dan swasta di berdomisili daerah jabodetabek, dengan jumlah total 55 responden, yang terdiri dari 25 responden dengan jenis kelamin laki-laki, dan 30 responden dengan jenis kelamin perempuan, dengan rentang usia 18 sampai 25 tahun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kebanyakan individu yang menyukai light music berjenis kelamin perempuan, dan heavy music cenderung lebih disukai oleh laki-laki. **** The purpose of this study is to understand the depiction of students' music preferences. Music preference itself is an individual's inclination to enjoy one or more types of music, often listened to. This study employs the framework from the research of Schwartz and Fouts (2003), which categorizes music preferences based on quality into two categories: light music and heavy music, utilizing a measurement tool adapted by Hamzah (2010). The sample for this study consists of students enrolled in both public and private colleges/universities located in the Jabodetabek region, with a total of 55 respondents, comprising 25 male respondents and 30 female respondents, aged between 18 and 25 years. The study results reveal that a majority of individuals who enjoy light music are female, while heavy music tends to be preferred by males.
