Abstract
This study examines the effects of Institutional Pressure, Digital Transformation, Entrepreneurial Orientation, and Dynamic Capability on Competitive Advantage and Corporate Performance of hotels affiliated with the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) in Java by integrating the Resource-Based View (RBV) and Institutional Theory. A quantitative approach was employed using Structural Equation Modeling - Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS based on data from 324 General Managers selected through purposive sampling. The research model was refined into Model 2 by eliminating the direct paths from Digital Transformation to Corporate Performance and from Entrepreneurial Orientation to Corporate Performance in order to obtain a more robust and predictive structural model. The results indicate that Institutional Pressure has a positive and significant effect on Digital Transformation, Entrepreneurial Orientation, Competitive Advantage, and Corporate Performance. Entrepreneurial Orientation and Dynamic Capability significantly enhance Competitive Advantage, which in turn has a significant positive impact on Corporate Performance. Mediation analysis confirms that Competitive Advantage significantly mediates the relationships between Institutional Pressure, Entrepreneurial Orientation, and Dynamic Capability and Corporate Performance, whereas Digital Transformation shows no significant direct or indirect effect through Competitive Advantage. These findings suggest that digital initiatives alone do not automatically translate into superior performance unless they are transformed into valuable and inimitable competitive advantages. This study highlights Competitive Advantage as the central strategic mechanism linking external institutional forces and internal capabilities to firm performance in the hospitality industry. Penelitian ini menganalisis pengaruh Tekanan Institusional, Transformasi Digital, Orientasi Kewirausahaan, dan Kapabilitas Dinamis terhadap Keunggulan Bersaing dan Kinerja Perusahaan pada hotel anggota Perhimpunan Hotel dan Restoran Indonesia (PHRI) di Pulau Jawa dengan mengintegrasikan ResourceBased View (RBV) dan Institutional Theory. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode Structural Equation Modeling - Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) melalui perangkat lunak SmartPLS terhadap 324 General Manager yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. Model penelitian dimodifikasi menjadi Model 2 dengan mengeliminasi jalur langsung Transformasi Digital terhadap Kinerja Perusahaan dan Orientasi Kewirausahaan terhadap Kinerja Perusahaan untuk memperoleh model struktural yang lebih stabil dan memiliki daya prediksi lebih baik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Tekanan Institusional berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap Transformasi Digital, Orientasi Kewirausahaan, Keunggulan Bersaing, dan Kinerja Perusahaan. Orientasi Kewirausahaan dan Kapabilitas Dinamis juga berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap Keunggulan Bersaing, sedangkan Keunggulan Bersaing berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap Kinerja Perusahaan. Uji mediasi membuktikan bahwa Keunggulan Bersaing memediasi secara signifikan pengaruh Tekanan Institusional, Orientasi Kewirausahaan, dan Kapabilitas Dinamis terhadap Kinerja Perusahaan, namun tidak memediasi pengaruh Transformasi Digital. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa digitalisasi belum secara otomatis menjadi sumber keunggulan strategis tanpa dikonversi menjadi diferensiasi yang bernilai ekonomi. Penelitian ini menegaskan peran sentral Keunggulan Bersaing sebagai mekanisme strategis utama yang menjembatani faktor institusional dan sumber daya internal dalam meningkatkan kinerja hotel.
