Abstract

Indonesia menjadi negara kelima dengan timbulan sampah tertinggi sedunia. Ibu rumah tangga dipilih sebagai subjek penelitian karena memiliki peran sentral dalam pengelolaan pangan rumah tangga seperti perencanaan belanja, pengolahan, penyimpanan, hingga pemanfaatan sisa makanan. Food literacy dipilih sebagai variabel independen karena mencerminkan pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan sikap individu dalam mengelola makanan secara bijak secara teoretis berpotensi mencegah perilaku membuang makanan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh food literacy terhadap pencegahan perilaku food waste pada ibu rumah tangga di Kelurahan Kapuk dan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif asosiatif untuk menguji pengaruh antar variabel secara objektif. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan Proportionate Cluster Random Sampling dengan sampel berjumlah 100 responden yang dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dan dianalisis menggunakan regresi linier sederhana. Penelitian ini berlangsung pada bulan Juni hingga November 2025. Hasil statistik mengatakan bahwa food literacy berpengaruh signifikan terhadap pencegahan perilaku food waste. Nilai koefisien regresi linear sederhana sebesar 0,667. Ibu rumah tangga memiliki kecenderungan kuat untuk memilih camilan sehat dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, seperti mengonsumsi sayuran atau camilan rendah kalori dengan tingginya dimensi pada variabel food literacy dan dipengaruhi oleh rendahnya motivasi finansial pada ibu rumah tangga sehingga aspek ekonomi belum menjadi pendorong utama bagi ibu rumah tangga dalam mengurangi limbah makanan **** Indonesia ranks as the fifth highest country in the world in terms of waste generation. Housewives were selected as the research subjects because they play a central role in household food management, including shopping planning, food preparation, storage, and the utilization of leftovers. Food literacy was chosen as the independent variable because it reflects individuals’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes in managing food wisely, which theoretically has the potential to prevent food-wasting behavior. This study aims to analyze the effect of food literacy on the prevention of food waste behavior among housewives in Kapuk Subdistrict and employs an associative quantitative approach to objectively examine the relationships between variables. The sampling technique used was Proportionate Cluster Random Sampling, with a sample of 100 respondents collected through questionnaires and analyzed using simple linear regression. This research was conducted from June to November 2025. The statistical results indicate that food literacy has a significant effect on the prevention of food waste behavior. The simple linear regression coefficient was 0.667. Housewives show a strong tendency to choose healthy snacks in their daily lives, such as consuming vegetables or low-calorie snacks, which is associated with the high level of the food literacy variable. This tendency is also influenced by low financial motivation among housewives, indicating that economic considerations have not yet become the primary driving factor for reducing food waste.
