Abstract
(**** This study aims to reduce self-injury behavior through the application of the social story method in first-grade students with autism at SLB Negeri 3 Jakarta. The research subject was one student with autism who exhibited self-injury behavior in the form of repeatedly hitting his chin. The research method used was Single Subject Research (SSR) with an A-B-A design, consisting of three stages, namely the first baseline (A1), intervention (B), and second baseline (A2). The instrument used was direct observation with the technique of recording the duration of self injury behavior during morning routine activities. The results showed that the application of social stories based on the 5W+1H principle helped the subject understand social situations, manage emotions, and reduce self-injury behavior. The duration of the behavior decreased gradually during the intervention phase and remained low during the second baseline phase. This indicates that the social story method is effective as an intervention to reduce the intensity of self-harming behavior in students with autism. This study recommends the use of social stories as a positive, individualistic, and easily applicable behavior modification strategy in special education settings. ****)
