Abstract

Pendidikan menengah kejuruan memiliki peran strategis dalam menyiapkan peserta didik agar memiliki kompetensi yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan dunia kerja. Namun, data Badan Pusat Statistik tahun 2023 menunjukkan bahwa lulusan Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) masih mendominasi tingkat pengangguran terbuka dengan persentase sebesar 9,31%. Kondisi tersebut mengindikasikan adanya ketidaksesuaian antara kompetensi lulusan dan tuntutan industri. Salah satu upaya untuk menjembatani permasalahann tersebut adalah melalui penerapan program kelas industri, khususnya pada bidang Tata Graha yang mencakup kompetensi Housekeeping, termasuk keterampilan making bed siswa yang mengikuti program kelas industri di hotel bintang 4 dan hotel bintang 5 di SMK Negeri 38 Jakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain komparatif. Populasi penelitian terdiri atas 71 siswa kelas XII Program Keahlian Perhotelan yang seluruhnya dijadikan sampel melalui teknik sensus. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, serta tes keterampilan menggunakan rubrik penilaian yang telah di validasi. Validitas instrumen diuji menggunakan Aiken’s V, sedangkan reliabilitasnya dianalisis dengan metode KR-20. Pengolahan data dilakukan menggunakan skala Guttman menggunakan IBM SPSS, dilanjutkan dengan uji normalitas Shapiro-Wilk dan uji komparatif. Hasil analisis menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan p < 0,05. Siswa yang mengikuti kelas industri di hotel bintang 5 menunjukkan tingkat keterampilan yang lebih tinggi pada seluruh tahapan making bed. Dengan demikian, program kelas industri pada hotel bintang 5 dinilai lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan making bed siswa. However, data from Statistics Indonesia (2023) indicate that graduates of Vocational High Schools (SMK) record the highest open unemployment rate, reaching 9,31%. This condition reflects a mismatch between graduates/ competencies and industry requirement. One initiative to address this issue is the implementation of industrial class programs, particularly in the field of Housekeeping under the hospitality specializaton, which includes bed-making skills. This study aims to analyze differences in bed-making skills between students participation in industrial class programs at four star dan five star hotels at SMK Negeri 38 Jakarta. The research employed a quantitive approach with a comparative research design. The population consisted of 71 twelfth grade Hospitality students, all of whom were included as research samples using a census technique. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and skill performance tests using standardized assessment rubrics. Instrument validity was examined using Aiken’s V, while reliability was tested using the Kuder-Richardson 20 (KR-20) formula. Data analysis was conducted using the Guttman scale with the assistance of IBM SPSS, followed by the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and comparative statistical analysis. The results revealed a statistically significant difference in bed-making skills between the two groups (p<0,05). Students who participated in industrial class programs at five star hotels demonstrated higher perfomance across all stages of the bed making process. Therefore, it can be concluded that industrial class programs implemented in five star hotels are more effective in enhancing students’ bed-making skills Keywords: Hospitality, Housekeeping, Industry Class, Making Bed, Student Skills.
