Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peran keluarga dalam memberikan dukungan bagi pejuang kanker dan melihat dampak dari peran dukungan keluarga dalam kehidupan pejuang kanker, karena kanker memberikan tekanan pada pejuang kanker. Teori yang digunakan pada penelitian ialah Teori Peran Keluarga sebagai sistem dari Murray Bowen. Metodologi menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Rumah Sakit Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Kencana, dan juga kediaman masing-masing 3 penderita kanker. Subjek penelitian ini terdiri dari 3 informan utama yang merupakan pasien kemoterapi Rumah Sakit Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Kencana. Data dikumpulkan melalui kepustakaan, observasi dan wawancara mendalam yang dilakukan pada Februari 2024-September 2025 Triangulasi dalam penelitian ini adalah 1 anggota keluarga dari pasien kemoterapi dan Dokter spesialis penyakit dalam hematologi onkologi Rumah Sakit Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Kencana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peran keluarga dalam mendukung kehidupan pejuang kanker sangat krusial karena berdampak bagi kehidupan pejuang kanker. Bentuk dukungan yang didapatkan oleh pejuang kanker mulai dari dukungan emosional, dukungan fisik, dukungan finansial, dan dukungan spiritual. Secara umum, EM dan AR mendapat dukungan emosional dari keluarga, pasangan, dan anak, sedangkan RH mendapat dukungan dari keluarga dan pasangan karena belum memiliki anak. EM memperoleh dukungan emosional terbesar karena tidak mengalami konflik selama menjadi cancer survivor. Dalam hal dukungan fisik, ketiganya mendapatkannya, namun AR tidak didampingi saat pengobatan dan kontrol rutin. Dukungan fisik terbesar diterima EM dan RH karena selalu didampingi keluarga. Pada dukungan finansial, biaya pengobatan EM ditanggung bisnis keluarga, RH oleh perusahaan tempat orang tuanya bekerja, sementara AR menanggung sendiri biayanya. Ketiganya memperoleh dukungan spiritual secara merata. Teori Murray Bowen, mengkaji terkait keluarga mempengaruhi satu sama lain, jika ada salah satu anggota keluarga yang mengalami perubahan atau tekanan maka akan mempengaruhi anggota keluarga lainnya. ***** This study aims to describe the role of the family in providing support for cancer survivors and to examine the impact of family support roles on the lives of cancer survivors. This research also explores the concepts of Murray Bowen’s Family Systems Theory, such as self-differentiation, emotional attachment, and the family as a support unit. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The research was conducted patients at Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Kencana Hospital, as well as at the residences of three chemotherapy patients. The research subjects consist of three main informants who are chemotherapy patients at Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Kencana Hospital. Data were collected through documentation, observation, and in-depth interviews. Triangulation in this study involved one family member of a chemotherapy patient from Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Kencana Hospital. The results of the study indicate that the role of family in supporting the lives of cancer survivors is crucial because it has an impact on the lives of cancer survivors. The forms of support received by cancer survivors include emotional support, physical support, financial support, and spiritual support. In general, EM and AR received emotional support from their families, partners, and children, while RH received support from their families and partners because they did not have children yet. EM received the greatest emotional support because she did not experience conflict during her time as a cancer survivor. In terms of physical support, all three received it, but AR was not accompanied during treatment and routine check-ups. EM and RH received the greatest physical support because they were always accompanied by their families. In terms of financial support, EM's medical expenses were covered by the family business, RH by the company where his parents worked, while AR covered the costs himself. All three received spiritual support equally. Murray Bowen's theory examines how families influence each other. If one family member experiences changes or stress, it will affect the other family members.
