Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji kecerdasan interpersonal tokoh Oishi Sensei dalam novel Nijuushi no Hitomi karya Sakae Tsuboi. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui dimensi kecerdasan interpersonal pada tokoh Oishi Sensei serta menganalisis penggambaran kecerdasan tersebut melalui metode karakterisasi langsung (telling) dan tidak langsung (showing). Penelitian ini dilakukan karena kajian yang secara khusus membahas kecerdasan interpersonal tokoh dengan mengintegrasikan dimensi kecerdasan interpersonal dan metode karakterisasi tokoh masih terbatas. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan psikologi sastra dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui studi pustaka dan teknik simak-catat. Kerangka teori yang digunakan meliputi, teori kecerdasan majemuk Howard Gardner dengan fokus pada kecerdasan interpersonal, dimensi kecerdasan interpersonal menurut Safaria yang mencakup social insight, social sensitivity, dan social communication, serta metode karakterisasi tokoh menurut Albertine Minderop. Hasil penelitian ditemukan 56 data kecerdasan interpersonal Oishi Sensei. Dimensi social insight paling dominan dengan 25 data, diikuti oleh social sensitivity sebanyak 16 data, dan social communication sebanyak 15 data. Kecerdasan interpersonal Oishi Sensei paling banyak muncul dalam interaksinya dengan murid. Dari segi metode karakterisasi, metode tidak langsung (showing) lebih dominan digunakan dibandingkan metode langsung (telling), yang menunjukkan bahwa kecerdasan interpersonal tokoh ditampilkan melalui tindakan, dialog, dan respons dalam situasi sosial. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa kecerdasan interpersonal merupakan aspek utama dalam pembentukan karakter tokoh dan ditampilkan secara konsisten sepanjang cerita. Temuan penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memperkaya kajian psikologi sastra, khususnya dalam analisis karakter tokoh, serta memberikan kontribusi praktis bagi dunia pendidikan melalui representasi sosok pendidik yang empati, komunikatif, dan humanis. ******* This study examines the interpersonal intelligence of Oishi Sensei in Sakae Tsuboi’s novel Nijuushi no Hitomi. The research aims to identify the dimensions of Oishi Sensei’s interpersonal intelligence and to analyze its depiction through direct and indirect characterization methods. This study is conducted due to the limited number of literary studies that integrate interpersonal intelligence dimensions with characterization analysis.The research employs a literary psychology approach using a qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected through literature study and observation–note-taking techniques. The theoretical framework includes Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences focusing on interpersonal intelligence, the dimensions of interpersonal intelligence proposed by Safaria namely social insight, social sensitivity, and social communication and Albertine Minderop’s characterization theory. The findings reveal 56 data related to Oishi Sensei’s interpersonal intelligence. Social insight appears as the most dominant dimension with 25 data, followed by social sensitivity with 16 data and social communication with 15 data. Oishi Sensei’s interpersonal intelligence is most evident in interactions with students. In terms of characterization, indirect methods are used more dominantly than direct methods, indicating that interpersonal intelligence is primarily conveyed through actions, dialogue, and responses in social situations. This study concludes that interpersonal intelligence is a central aspect of Oishi Sensei’s character formation and is consistently portrayed throughout the narrative. The findings are expected to contribute to literary psychology studies and provide educational insights into the representation of an empathetic and humanistic educator.
