Abstract

Konsentrasi belajar merupakan kemampuan penting yang mendukung keberhasilan siswa dalam mengikuti proses pembelajaran, namun sering menjadi kendala bagi siswa dengan hambatan intelektual ringan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan metode brain gym terhadap kemampuan konsentrasi belajar siswa hambatan intelektual ringan di SLB Negeri 12 Jakarta, khususnya ditinjau dari durasi siswa dalam mempertahankan perhatian selama pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Single Subject Research (SSR) dengan desain A–B–A yang meliputi fase baseline awal (A1), intervensi (B), dan baseline akhir (A2). Subjek penelitian terdiri atas dua siswa kelas IX dengan hambatan intelektual ringan. Intervensi berupa brain gym dengan gerakan delapan tidur diberikan secara konsisten sebelum pembelajaran pada fase intervensi. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi langsung menggunakan lembar observasi durasi konsentrasi berdasarkan tiga indikator, yaitu perhatian terhadap materi, respons terhadap instruksi, dan gerakan anggota tubuh yang sesuai. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode brain gym mampu meningkatkan durasi konsentrasi belajar siswa secara bertahap dan relatif stabil. Meskipun intervensi dihentikan, kemampuan konsentrasi siswa tetap berada pada tingkat yang lebih baik dibandingkan kondisi awal. Dengan demikian, metode brain gym efektif digunakan sebagai alternatif intervensi untuk meningkatkan konsentrasi belajar siswa hambatan intelektual ringan. ***** Learning concentration is an essential ability that supports students’ success in the learning process; however, it often becomes a major challenge for students with mild intellectual disabilities. This study aimed to examine the effect of the brain gym method on improving the learning concentration of students with mild intellectual disabilities at SLB Negeri 12 Jakarta, particularly in terms of the duration of attention during learning activities. This study employed a Single Subject Research (SSR) method using an A–B–A design consisting of an initial baseline (A1), intervention (B), and a withdrawal baseline (A2). The research subjects were two ninth-grade students with mild intellectual disabilities. The intervention involved brain gym exercises focusing on the lazy eight movement, which were administered consistently before learning sessions during the intervention phase. Data were collected through direct observation using a concentration duration observation sheet based on three indicators: attention to learning materials, responsiveness to teacher instructions, and appropriate body movements during learning. The results indicated a gradual and stable increase in students’ concentration duration during the intervention phase. Although the intervention was withdrawn, the students’ concentration levels remained higher than those observed in the initial baseline phase. Therefore, brain gym can be considered an effective alternative intervention for improving learning concentration in students with mild intellectual disabilities.
