Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan gerak lokomotor anak kelompok A usia 4–5 tahun di sentra olah tubuh berdasarkan unsur motorik kasar dan karakteristik perkembangan motorik kasar pada tahap emerging. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologi. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas enam anak kelompok A yang dipilih menggunakan teknik emergent sampling dan satu guru sentra olah tubuh sebagai informan. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan teknik Analisis Fenomenologi Interpretatif (AFI). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan gerak lokomotor anak meliputi gerakan berjalan, meloncat dua kaki, dan berguling berkembang sesuai karakteristik emerging stage menurut Gallahue. Gerakan berjalan tampak lebih stabil pada aktivitas tanpa beban, sedangkan berjalan dengan membawa atau menggiring bola memunculkan tantangan keseimbangan dan koordinasi. Gerakan meloncat dua kaki menunjukkan variasi penguasaan yang dipengaruhi oleh perbedaan lintasan lurus dan zigzag serta kebutuhan ancang-ancang dan kestabilan pendaratan. Aktivitas berguling menstimulasi kekuatan inti, koordinasi, dan keseimbangan meskipun arah dan kelancaran gerak belum sepenuhnya konsisten. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa peningkatan level bermain dan variasi aktivitas lokomotor yang terstruktur di sentra olah tubuh berperan penting dalam mendukung perkembangan motorik kasar anak. Oleh karena itu, pendidik disarankan untuk menyediakan stimulasi lokomotor yang bertahap, bervariasi, dan berkelanjutan. ***** This study aimed to describe the locomotor movement abilities of Group A children aged 4–5 years in a physical activity center based on gross motor components and the characteristics of motor development at the emerging stage. A qualitative approach with a phenomenological method was employed. The research subjects consisted of six Group A children selected through emergent sampling and one physical activity teacher as an informant. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The findings indicated that the children’s locomotor movement abilities, including walking, two-foot jumping, and rolling, developed in accordance with the characteristics of the emerging stage as proposed by Gallahue. Walking movements appeared more stable during activities without additional loads, whereas walking while carrying or dribbling a ball posed greater challenges to balance and coordination. Two-foot jumping showed varied levels of mastery, influenced by differences between straight and zigzag pathways, as well as the need for a preparatory take-off and stable landing. Rolling activities stimulated core strength, coordination, and balance, although movement direction and fluency were not yet fully consistent. The study concludes that increasing the level of play and providing structured variations of locomotor activities in the physical activity center play an important role in supporting children’s gross motor development. Therefore, educators are encouraged to provide gradual, varied, and continuous locomotor stimulation.
