Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara konsep diri dan agresivitas verbal pada siswa SMA Negeri di Jakarta Timur. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 400 siswa yang diperoleh melalui teknik convenience sampling, dengan penentuan proporsi sampel tiap sekolah menggunakan stratified sampling berdasarkan jumlah siswa, serta pemilihan responden dilakukan secara accidental sampling pada tiga SMA Negeri, yaitu SMAN 58 Jakarta, SMAN 64 Jakarta, dan SMAN 39 Jakarta. Pengukuran konsep diri dilakukan menggunakan Tennessee Self Concept Scale (TSCS) yang dikembangkan oleh Fitts (1971) dan telah diadaptasi ke dalam bahasa Indonesia oleh Sri Rahayu Partosuwindo dkk. (1979). Sementara itu, agresivitas verbal diukur menggunakan Verbal Aggressiveness Scale (VAS) yang dikembangkan oleh Infante dan Wigley (1986) dan telah diadaptasi sesuai dengan subjek penelitian. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dan dianalisis menggunakan uji korelasi Product Moment (Pearson Product Moment) dengan bantuan program SPSS versi 27. Hasil analisis menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara konsep diri dan agresivitas verbal dengan koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,555 dan nilai signifikansi 0,000 (p < 0,01), yang berada pada kategori hubungan sedang hingga kuat. Temuan ini menunjukkan adanya hubungan negatif, di mana semakin rendah konsep diri siswa maka semakin tinggi agresivitas verbal yang ditampilkan, dan sebaliknya. ***** This study aims to examine the relationship between self-concept and verbal aggressiveness among public senior high school students in East Jakarta. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The sample consisted of 400 students selected using a convenience sampling technique, with proportional allocation across schools determined through stratified sampling based on the number of students in each school, and respondents were selected using accidental sampling. The research was conducted at three public senior high schools, namely SMAN 58 Jakarta, SMAN 64 Jakarta, and SMAN 39 Jakarta. Self-concept was measured using the Tennessee Self Concept Scale (TSCS) developed by Fitts (1971) and adapted into Indonesian by Sri Rahayu Partosuwindo et al. (1979). Verbal aggressiveness was measured using the Verbal Aggressiveness Scale (VAS) developed by Infante and Wigley (1986) and adapted to the research. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test with the assistance of SPSS version 27. The results revealed a significant relationship between self-concept and verbal aggressiveness, with a correlation coefficient of 0.555 and a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.01), indicating a moderate to strong relationship. These findings demonstrate a negative relationship, indicating that lower levels of self-concept are associated with higher levels of verbal aggressiveness, and vice versa.
