Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan media pembelajaran film animasi kartun berbahasa Inggris terhadap motivasi belajar Bahasa Inggris peserta didik sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode quasi experiment dengan desain pretest–posttest control group. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas dua kelas, yaitu kelas eksperimen yang diberikan perlakuan menggunakan media film animasi kartun berbahasa Inggris dan kelas kontrol yang menggunakan media flashcard. Instrumen penelitian berupa angket motivasi belajar yang mencakup delapan indikator motivasi belajar. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan uji hipotesis menggunakan uji t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari delapan indikator motivasi belajar, lima indikator mengalami peningkatan pada kelas eksperimen setelah diberikan perlakuan. Namun, berdasarkan hasil uji t diperoleh nilai Sig. (2-tailed) > 0,05, sehingga hipotesis alternatif (Ha) ditolak dan hipotesis nol (Ho) diterima. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media film animasi kartun berbahasa Inggris belum memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan secara statistik terhadap motivasi belajar Bahasa Inggris siswa. Meskipun demikian, secara deskriptif media film animasi kartun berbahasa Inggris mampu menciptakan suasana belajar yang lebih menarik, menyenangkan, dan komunikatif, sehingga berpotensi meningkatkan motivasi belajar peserta didik. ***** This study aims to examine the effect of using English cartoon animated films as learning media on elementary school students’ motivation in learning English. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a pretest–posttest control group design. The research subjects consisted of two classes: an experimental class taught using English cartoon animated films and a control class taught using flashcard media. The research instrument was a learning motivation questionnaire covering eight motivation indicators. The data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing through a t-test. The results indicated that five out of eight motivation indicators showed improvement in the experimental class after the treatment. However, the t-test results showed that the Sig. (2-tailed) value was greater than 0.05, indicating that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was rejected and the null hypothesis (Ho) was accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of English cartoon animated films did not have a statistically significant effect on students’ English learning motivation. Nevertheless, descriptively, the use of English cartoon animated films created a more engaging, enjoyable, and communicative learning atmosphere, which has the potential to enhance students’ learning motivation.
