Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi konsep la liberté dalam teks drama Huis Clos (2019) karya Jean-Paul Sartre. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis isi, serta pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik simak dan catat untuk menelaah kata, frasa, klausa kalimat tokoh berdasarkan teori eksistensialisme Jean-Paul Sartre (2021), khususnya konsep la liberté existentielle dan la liberté radicale. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 38 data yang dianalisis, terdapat 17 data yang merepresentasikan la liberté existentielle dan 21 data yang merepresentasikan la liberté radicale. La liberté existentielle ditandai oleh kesadaran awal tokoh terhadap situasi keberadaannya tanpa penerimaan tanggung jawab moral secara penuh. Sementara itu, la liberté radicale ditunjukkan melalui pengakuan diri, penerimaan atas tindakan masa lalu, serta kesiapan tokoh menghadapi konsekuensi pilihannya. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa Huis Clos merepresentasikan kebebasan sebagai proses kesadaran yang berkembang melalui dialog tokoh. ***** This study aims to identify of the concept of la liberté in the drama text Huis Clos (2019) by Jean-Paul Sartre. The study uses a qualitative approach with a content analysis method, and data are collected through observation and note-taking techniques to examine words, phrases, and clauses in the characters’ dialogues based on Jean-Paul Sartre’s existentialist theory (2021), particularly the concepts of la liberté existentielle and la liberté radicale. The results show that of the 38 data analyzed, 17 represent la liberté existentielle and 21 represent la liberté radicale. La liberté existentielle is characterized by the characters’ initial awareness of their existential situation without full acceptance of moral responsibility, while la liberté radicale is demonstrated through self-recognition, acceptance of past actions, and the readiness of the characters to face the consequences of their choices. These findings indicate that Huis Clos represents freedom as a process of awareness that develops through the characters’ dialogues.
