Abstract

Karya akhir penciptaan ini bertujuan untuk menggali nilai mendalam tentang sesajen dalam masyarakat Sunda yang dipakai dalam banyak prosesi adat atau kegiatan sehari-hari kemudian mengejawantahkannya dalam bentuk karya seni rupa instalasi, berfokus pada kedalaman tersebut hingga mengolah visual yang dapat memproyeksikan ide melalui metode artistic research di mana mengintegrasikan antara riset (magang, riset pustaka dan wawancara narasumber) bersamaan dengan proses pembuatan karya. Gagasan dan konsep serta muatan pengetahuan yang dapat disampaikan melalui karya dapat dikembangkan melalui bentuk yang lebih umum sebagai lapisan pertama sebelum menuju pengetahuan lokal dengan mengolah bahan, media menggunakan Teknik pahat, cor, potong dan sambung untuk mencapai visual yang jelas dan real sehingga memudahkan tafsiran audiens, kemudian pengembangan karakteristik visual tentang nilai-nilai sesajen juga dapat dikembangkan melalui bantuan penguatan karya yang bersifat artistik dan naratif tanpa mengubah esensi sesajen itu sendiri sehingga karya tersebut berdiri sebagai pertanyaan yang diharapkan menimbulkan dialog tentang menemukan jawaban apakah nilai sesajen relevan untuk permasalahan aktual hari ini. Kata Kunci: Sesajen, Masyarakat Sunda, Instalasi, budaya ***** This final creative project aims to explore the profound values embedded in the practice of sesajen within Sundanese society, which are employed in various traditional rituals as well as everyday activities, and to subsequently materialize these values in the form of an installation art project. The creative process focuses on an in-depth examination of these meanings, resulting in a visual articulation capable of projecting conceptual ideas through an artistic research methodology. This approach integrates research processes—such asinternships, literature review, and interviews with key informants—alongside the process of artistic production. The ideas, concepts, and bodies of knowledge conveyed through the artwork are developed by employing more universal visual forms as an initial interpretive layer before gradually engaging with localized cultural knowledge. Materials and media are explored through carving, casting, cutting, and joining techniques in order to achieve clear, tangible, and realistic visual forms that facilitate audience interpretation. Furthermore, the visual characteristics representing the values of sesajen are strengthened through artistic and narrative strategies without altering the essential nature of sesajen itself. Consequently, the artwork is positioned as a reflective inquiry intended to provoke critical dialogue on whether the values embodied in sesajen remain relevant to contemporary societal issues.
