Abstract

Nur Salvia Rukmawati, 1406621037, Mobilitas Sosial Pekerja Rantauan Karyawan Pabrik di PT AISIN Indonesia (Studi Kasus: Karyawan Bidang Production Planning And Inventory Control). Skripsi. Undergraduate Thesis. Jakarta: Sociology Study Program, Faculty of Social Sciences and Law, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, 2026. This study aims to analyze the role of PT AISIN Indonesia as a means of social mobility for migrant workers in the PPIC department, as well as to identify the forms of social mobility experienced by migrant workers based on Pitirim A. Sorokin’s perspective. The research focuses on the role of PT AISIN Indonesia as a channel for the social mobility of migrant workers through career systems, management policies, a work culture that supports social mobility, competency development, and promotion opportunities, while also examining the forms of social mobility experienced by migrant workers in improving their social and economic status. This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study method at PT AISIN Indonesia from September 2025 to March 2026. The research subjects consist of 5 migrant workers in the PPIC field who have lived in Cikarang for more than 10 years, including 1 supervisor and 4 employees. The study applies Pitirim A. Sorokin’s social mobility theory. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The validity of the data was tested through source triangulation involving the main informants and the PPIC Manager as triangulation informants. The findings indicate that PT AISIN Indonesia functions as a medium of social mobility for migrant workers in the PPIC division through structured career systems, competency development, and relatively open promotion opportunities. From Sorokin’s perspective, the forms of mobility identified include upward vertical mobility through job and income advancement, horizontal mobility through job rotation and geographic relocation, and intergenerational mobility reflected in improved socioeconomic status compared to their parents’ generation. However, the process of social mobility continues to face obstacles such as limited formal education, demands for enhanced competencies, and restricted career hierarchies within the organization.
