Abstract

***** This study aims to describe the implementation of an internship program that has an impact on the development of soft skills among students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law, State University of Jakarta (FISH UNJ). This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach to explore students' subjective experiences in depth. The subjects of this study were 4 informants as FISH UNJ impact internship students and 1 informant as the program coordinator. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation and interviews. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the internship program has a significant impact on students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law, State University of Jakarta, where the program has proven effective in bridging the gap between academic theory and professional practice, while increasing professional insight, and forming students' character and work ethic. In addition, this study identified the driving and inhibiting factors of six main factors that influence the development of students' soft skills during the internship, namely time management, self-management, communication, leadership, cooperation, and problem solving. These six factors develop integratively through direct involvement of students in the real work environment, thus collectively forming a comprehensive non-technical competency profile that is relevant to the demands of the professional world.
