Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan mobile learning berbasis Socio Scientific Issues (SSI) pada materi energi mata pelajaran IPA kelas IV sekolah dasar serta menguji kelayakan dan keefektifannya dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dan belum optimalnya pemanfaatan teknologi pembelajaran yang kontekstual di sekolah dasar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian dan pengembangan (Research and Development) yang meliputi tahap analisis kebutuhan, perancangan, pengembangan produk, validasi ahli, uji coba terbatas, dan revisi. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas IV SD Negeri Karawaci Baru 3. Instrumen penelitian meliputi lembar validasi ahli media dan ahli materi, angket respon siswa, serta tes kemampuan berpikir kritis yang mengacu pada indikator Facione. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mobile learning berbasis SSI yang dikembangkan dinyatakan sangat valid dan mendapatkan respon positif dari siswa. Uji keefektifan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa setelah menggunakan media pembelajaran. Dengan demikian, mobile learning berbasis Socio Scientific Issues (SSI) layak dan efektif digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran IPA untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa sekolah dasar. Kata Kunci: Kemampuan berpikir kritis, Mobile Learning, Socio Scientific Issues (SSI) ***** This study aims to develop Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI)-based mobile learning on the topic of energy in fourth-grade elementary science and to examine its feasibility and effectiveness in improving students’ critical thinking skills. This research is motivated by students’ low critical thinking abilities and the limited use of contextual digital learning media in elementary schools. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method consisting of needs analysis, design, product development, expert validation, limited trials, and revision. The research subjects were fourth-grade students of SD Negeri Karawaci Baru 3. Research instruments included media and content expert validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and critical thinking tests based on Facione’s indicators. The results show that the developed SSI-based mobile learning is highly valid and received positive responses from students. Effectiveness testing indicates an improvement in students’ critical thinking skills after using the learning media. Therefore, SSI based mobile learning is feasible and effective as a science learning medium to enhance elementary school students’ critical thinking skills.
