Abstract
***** Effective learning is essential for creating a learning process that enhances students' engagement, understanding, and learning outcomes. One alternative instructional approach that can be implemented is the Learning Cycle 5E model integrated with gamification. This study aimed to explore students' perceptions of the effectiveness of the Learning Cycle 5E model integrated with gamification in teaching the topic of salt hydrolysis to eleventh-grade students. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 89 Jakarta using a qualitative research method. The research participants consisted of 38 eleventh-grade students. The study was based on five indicators of learning effectiveness, namely learning implementation management, communicative learning process, student responses, learning activities, and learning outcomes. Data were collected through reflective journals, interviews, questionnaires, observations, and learning achievement tests. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with data triangulation employed to enhance the trustworthiness of the findings. The results showed that the students had highly positive perceptions of the effectiveness of the Learning Cycle 5E model integrated with gamification. This was indicated by positive perceptions of 100% for the indicators of learning implementation management, communicative learning process, student responses, and learning outcomes, and 97.4% for the learning activities indicator. Positive perceptions of the learning outcomes indicator were also supported by a classical learning mastery rate of 86.84%, improved understanding of salt hydrolysis concepts, and enhanced students' ability to solve problems. Therefore, the Learning Cycle 5E model integrated with gamification was perceived to be effective in supporting learning effectiveness in the topic of salt hydrolysis.
