Abstract
***** This study aims to explain the situation of fatherlessness, analyze its impact on the self-confidence of Generation Z adolescents in the school environment, and compare the characteristics of self-confidence dynamics between female students at SMA Gita Kirtti 2 North Jakarta and male students at SMKN 54 Central Jakarta. The method used in this research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. Sampling was conducted using purposive sampling, involving 5 students identified as fatherless and exhibiting low self-confidence from each school, supplemented by 1 Guidance and Counseling (BK) teacher from each institution as expert informants to ensure data accuracy. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and literature review. The results of the study indicate that the phenomenon of an absent father among Generation Z adolescents manifests in two main forms: physical absence and functional absence. The resulting impacts include feelings of sadness, low self-esteem, and a tendency to withdraw or self-isolate. Comparatively, there are differences in gender response characteristics and institutional demands between the two schools. Female students at SMA Gita Kirtti 2 tend to exhibit more open emotional indicators. Conversely, male students at SMKN 54 Jakarta face peer pressure regarding masculine ego, leading them to be more closed off.
