Abstract

***** This study aims to analyze the implementation of the morning tadarus habituation program, the daily habituation process, and its role in preparing eleventh-grade students for learning at SMA Negeri 64 Jakarta. This research was motivated by the phenomenon of suboptimal student learning readiness during the first period, such as drowsiness, lack of focus, and emotional fatigue from outside school. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with Islamic Education teachers, Rohis supervisors, and eleventh-grade students, as well as documentation, which were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The theoretical framework integrates George C. Edward III's policy implementation theory, Thomas Lickona's character education, and Edward Lee Thorndike's law of readiness. The findings showed that: (1) Program Implementation was structured every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday for 40 minutes before learning began. However, its effectiveness was hindered by uneven communication of pedagogical goals, quality gaps in audio facilities, variations in accompanying teachers' disposition/strictness, and the absence of written SOPs. (2) Habituation & Character Process occurred through opening, core, and transition phases, which trained students' attendance discipline. Character internalization (moral knowing, moral feeling, moral action) varied; intrinsically motivated students displayed independent participation, while others remained at a situational compliance level due to external supervision. (3) Role in Learning Readiness positively contributed to reducing sleepiness (physical readiness), serving as cognitive warming/focus for challenging subjects (mental readiness), soothing negative emotions from home as a psychological pause (emotional readiness), and fostering inner tranquility for unannounced quizzes (spiritual readiness). Nevertheless, the perceived benefits depended heavily on individual meaningfulness (law of effect).
