Abstract
The alumina bulk loading activity at Kijing International Port faces operational problems due to limited truck availability, causing operational waiting time and preventing the achievement of the productivity target of 4,800 Ton/Ship/Day (TSD). This study aims to determine the optimal number of trucks to improve alumina bulk loading productivity using a simulation method. The method used is Discrete Event Simulation (DES) with AnyLogic Personal Learning Edition (PLE) version 8.9.7. The simulation model was developed based on actual operational conditions, including alumina transportation from the silo to the berth and the vessel loading process. The prototype was validated to ensure that the model represents actual field conditions. The simulation results show that the existing condition with 15 trucks has not achieved the productivity target. The best scenario was obtained using 22 trucks, resulting in a productivity of 4,966 Ton/Ship/Day (TSD). Therefore, 22 trucks are recommended as the optimal fleet size to support alumina bulk loading activities at Kijing International Port.
