Abstract

Praktik Kerja Lapangan (PKL) merupakan salah satu program pendidikan kejuruan yang bertujuan memberikan pengalaman kerja nyata kepada siswa sebagai bekal memasuki dunia kerja. Namun, kualitas pengalaman PKL yang diperoleh setiap siswa dapat berbeda dan berpotensi berkaitan dengan pembentukan kompetensi, peluang memperoleh rekomendasi kerja, serta keputusan karir setelah lulus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) menggali pengalaman siswa selama pelaksanaan PKL di industri manufaktur, (2) mengungkap indikator kompetensi yang menjadi dasar penentuan rekomendasi kerja, dan (3) menggali keputusan siswa terhadap rekomendasi kerja di industri. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam dan analisis dokumen terhadap siswa yang memperoleh rekomendasi kerja setelah PKL, serta pembimbing industri dan guru pembimbing sebagai informan pendukung. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman yang meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengalaman PKL siswa berlangsung melalui lima fase, yaitu fase asimilasi, adaptasi terhadap lingkungan kerja, fase eksplorasi, internalisasi dan apresiasi. Kompetensi yang menjadi dasar pemberian rekomendasi kerja meliputi Hard Skills dan Soft Skills. Keputusan siswa untuk menerima rekomendasi kerja berkaitan dengan keyakinan terhadap kemampuan diri, persepsi terhadap peluang dan manfaat kerja, serta ketertarikan terhadap bidang kerja yang diperkuat melalui pengalaman PKL. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pengalaman PKL yang bermakna berperan penting dalam pembentukan kompetensi dan keputusan karir siswa di industri manufaktur./*****Work Experience (PKL) is a vocational education programme designed to provide students with real-world work experience to prepare them for entering the world of work. However, the quality of the work experience gained by each student may vary and could potentially influence the development of their skills, their chances of securing a job recommendation, and their career decisions after graduation. This study aims to (1) explore students’ experiences during their PKL placements in the manufacturing industry, (2) identify the competency indicators that form the basis for determining job recommendations, and (3) explore students’ decisions regarding job recommendations within the industry. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and document analysis involving students who received job recommendations following their work placements, as well as industry supervisors and school tutors acting as supporting informants. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman model, which comprises data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The research findings indicate that students’ work placement experiences unfolded across five phases: assimilation, adaptation to the work environment, exploration, internalisation and appreciation. The competencies forming the basis for the provision of job recommendations include hard skills and soft skills. Students’ decisions to accept job offers are linked to their confidence in their own abilities, their perceptions of career opportunities and benefits, and their interest in the field of work, all of which are reinforced through work placement experience. This study shows that meaningful work placement experience plays a key role in the development of students’ competencies and career decisions within the manufacturing industry.
