Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada analisis pola yang ada pada pekerja muda perkotaan mengenai gaya hidup konsumtif dengan keterkaitannya pada lingkungan kerja yang perstigius. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pola gaya hidup konsumerisme pekerja muda perkotaan khususnya di sektor perkantoran Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD), menganalisis bagaimana perilaku konsumerisme tersebut dilihat dalam kerangka reproduksi sosial, serta mengidentifikasi dampak sosial dari perilaku konsumerisme tersebut terhadap upaya mempertahankan kelas sosial pekerja. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Lokasi penelitian ini berada di kawasan Sudirman Central Business District sebagai sektor perkantoran paling bergengsi di tengah kota Jakarta. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari tujuh pekerja muda dalam kategori intern, fresh graduates atau tahap awal full time dengan fokus dominasi latar menengah atas. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dari bulan Desember 2025 hingga Maret 2026. Penelitian ini mengkaji secara mendalam pola gaya hidup pekerja muda di kawasan SCBD di tengah kuatnya citra prestise sosial kawasan tersebut. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa latar belakang konsumerisme digerakkan oleh pemicu level institusional, interpersonal, dan medial. Lebih lanjut, mekanisme reproduksi sosial bekerja melalui internalisasi habitus selera, konversi modal, serta daya paksa arena SCBD yang menuntut distingsi. Rangkaian tindakan tersebut pada akhirnya membawa dampak sosial yang signifikan terhadap kebijakan finansial, relasi pergaulan, kondisi psikologis, hingga kerentanan posisi kelas sosial para pekerja muda di tengah struktur masyarakat urban yang kompetitif. ***** This study focuses on analyzing the lifestyle patterns of urban young workers related to consumerist behavior within a prestigious working environment. This research aims to describe the consumerist lifestyle patterns of young urban workers specifically those in the office sector of the Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD), analyze this consumerist behavior within the framework of social reproduction, and identify its social impact on efforts to maintain the workers' social class position. The study employs a qualitative approach using a case study method, situated in the SCBD, the most prestigious office district in the heart of Jakarta. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The research subjects consist of seven young workers categorized as interns, fresh graduates, or those in the early stages of full-time employment with with a dominant focus on upper-middle social background informants. The study is conducted from December 2025 to March 2026. This research examines in depth the lifestyle patterns of young workers in the SCBD area amidst the district's strong image of social prestige. Findings indicate that the consumerist behavior is driven by factors at the institutional, interpersonal, and media levels. Furthermore, mechanisms of social reproduction operate through the internalization of a habitus of taste, capital conversion, and the coercive force of the SCBD arena, which demands social distinction. Ultimately, these actions have significant social consequences regarding financialy wise, social relationships, psychological well-being, and the vulnerability of the young workers' social class position within the competitive structure of urban society.
