Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya komunikasi interpersonal dalam menjaga hubungan sosial, kekompakan, dan kerja sama di dalam tim olahraga. Komunikasi yang efektif antaratlet menjadi faktor penting dalam membangun kepercayaan, solidaritas, dan koordinasi permainan yang mendukung pencapaian tujuan bersama. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bentuk komunikasi interpersonal yang dilakukan oleh atlet dalam upaya memelihara hubungan sosial, meningkatkan kekompakan, dan membangun iklim kerja sama yang positif pada Tim Bola Basket Universitas Negeri Jakarta. Secara teoritis, penelitian ini menggunakan Teori Humanistik Joseph A. DeVito yang memandang komunikasi interpersonal sebagai proses interaksi yang menekankan penghargaan terhadap individu, pemahaman pengalaman subjektif, kesadaran diri, pertumbuhan manusia, dan hubungan yang dinamis. Teori ini menjelaskan bahwa efektivitas komunikasi tidak hanya ditentukan oleh pertukaran informasi, tetapi juga oleh kemampuan individu dalam memahami, menghargai, dan membangun hubungan yang bermakna dengan orang lain. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi terhadap atlet Tim Bola Basket Universitas Negeri Jakarta. Analisis data dilakukan melalui tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan, sedangkan keabsahan data diperoleh melalui triangulasi sumber dan teknik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komunikasi interpersonal antaratlet dalam Tim Bola Basket Universitas Negeri Jakarta terbentuk melalui lima dimensi utama, yaitu keterbukaan (openness), empati (empathy), sikap positif (positiveness), sikap mendukung (supportiveness), dan kesamaan (equality). Kelima dimensi tersebut berperan dalam membangun hubungan interpersonal yang harmonis, meningkatkan solidaritas, menumbuhkan rasa saling percaya, serta memperkuat efektivitas kerja sama tim. Temuan penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa keterbukaan menjadi dimensi yang paling dominan karena mendorong terciptanya komunikasi dua arah, penyampaian pendapat secara bebas, serta penyelesaian permasalahan secara konstruktif di antara anggota tim. Sebaliknya, dimensi kesamaan berperan sebagai faktor pendukung yang memperkuat rasa saling menghargai dan perlakuan yang setara antaratlet. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa komunikasi interpersonal yang efektif merupakan fondasi penting dalam memelihara hubungan sosial antaratlet. Keterbukaan, empati, sikap positif, sikap mendukung, dan kesamaan terbukti mampu menciptakan hubungan yang harmonis, meningkatkan kekompakan tim, serta mendukung pencapaian tujuan dan prestasi bersama dalam lingkungan olahraga. ***** This research is motivated by the importance of interpersonal communication in maintaining social relationships, cohesiveness, and cooperation within sports teams. Effective communication between athletes is an important factor in building trust, solidarity, and game coordination that supports the achievement of common goals. This study aims to analyze the form of interpersonal communication carried out by athletes in an effort to maintain social relationships, increase cohesiveness, and build a positive cooperation climate in the Jakarta State University Basketball Team. Theoretically, this study uses the Joseph A. DeVito Humanistic Theory which views interpersonal communication as an interaction process that emphasizes appreciation for the individual, understanding subjective experiences, self-awareness, human growth, and dynamic relationships. This theory explains that the effectiveness of communication is not only determined by the exchange of information, but also by the individual's ability to understand, appreciate, and build meaningful relationships with others. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation of athletes of the Jakarta State University Basketball Team. Data analysis is carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn, while the validity of the data is obtained through triangulation of sources and techniques. The results of the study show that interpersonal communication between athletes in the State University of Jakarta Basketball Team is formed through five main dimensions, namely openness, empathy, positivity, supportiveness, and equality. These five dimensions play a role in building harmonious interpersonal relationships, increasing solidarity, fostering mutual trust, and strengthening the effectiveness of teamwork. The findings of the study also show that openness is the most dominant dimension because it encourages the creation of two-way communication, free expression of opinions, and constructive problem solving among team members. On the contrary, the dimension of similarity acts as a supporting factor that strengthens mutual respect and equal treatment between athletes. This study concludes that effective interpersonal communication is an important foundation in maintaining social relationships between athletes. Openness, empathy, positive attitude, supportive attitude, and similarity have been proven to be able to create harmonious relationships, increase team cohesion, and support the achievement of common goals and achievements in the sports environment.
