Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi latar belakang empat keluarga kelas bawah di wilayah Petukangan Selatan yang mengalami keterbatasan peran ekonomi ayah, mendeskripsikan peran dan fungsi keluarga yang dijalankan dalam keempat keluarga tersebut, serta menganalisis dinamika keluarga dalam kondisi keterbatasan peran ekonomi ayah ditinjau dari perspektif sistem sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Penelitian dilaksanakan di wilayah Petukangan Selatan, Kecamatan Pesanggrahan, Jakarta Selatan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan sejak Desember 2025 hingga April 2026 melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dokumentasi, dan studi literatur. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas empat keluarga yang mengalami keterbatasan peran ekonomi ayah. Informan utama ialah ayah dan ibu pada setiap keluarga, sedangkan informan triangulasi meliputi anak dari keluarga 1, 2, dan 4 yang mampu memberikan keterangan serta dosen ahli di bidang ilmu keluarga. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterbatasan peran ekonomi ayah terjadi ketika ayah belum mampu menjalankan fungsi ekonominya secara optimal akibat kondisi kesehatan, penghasilan yang tidak memadai, serta ketidakstabilan pekerjaan. Keterbatasan tersebut menimbulkan tekanan ekonomi yang memengaruhi keberlangsungan sistem keluarga, seperti kesulitan memenuhi kebutuhan hidup, perubahan pembagian peran, perubahan pola komunikasi, serta munculnya ketegangan dalam keluarga. Sebagai bentuk penyesuaian, ibu mengambil peran tambahan untuk membantu memenuhi kebutuhan ekonomi keluarga, sementara anak turut menyesuaikan diri terhadap perubahan kondisi yang dihadapi keluarga. Meskipun demikian, keluarga tetap berupaya mempertahankan relasi sosial melalui komunikasi, kerja sama, saling memahami, serta berbagai bentuk penyesuaian dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa keterbatasan peran ekonomi ayah tidak hanya berdampak pada aspek ekonomi, tetapi juga memengaruhi dinamika relasi sosial keluarga dan keberlangsungan fungsi keluarga sebagai suatu sistem sosial. Kata Kunci: Dinamika Keluarga, Keterbatasan Ekonomi Ayah, Relasi Keluarga. ***** This study aims to identify the background of four lower-class families in Petukangan Selatan experiencing limitations in the father's economic role, describe the family roles and functions performed within these four families, and analyze family dynamics under conditions of limitations in the father's economic role from the perspective of the social system. This study employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. The research was conducted in Petukangan Selatan, Pesanggrahan District, South Jakarta. Data were collected from December 2025 to April 2026 through observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and literature review. The research subjects consisted of four families experiencing limitations in the father's economic role. The primary informants were the fathers and mothers from each family, while the triangulation informants included children from Families 1, 2, and 4 who were able to provide relevant information, as well as an expert in family studies. The findings indicate that limitations in the father's economic role occur when fathers are unable to perform their economic function optimally due to health conditions, inadequate income, and unstable employment. These limitations create economic pressures that affect the functioning of the family system, including difficulties in meeting daily needs, changes in the division of roles, changes in communication patterns, and the emergence of tension within the family. As a form of adaptation, mothers assume additional roles to help meet the family's economic needs, while children also adjust to the changing circumstances faced by the family. Nevertheless, the families continue to maintain their social relationships through communication, cooperation, mutual understanding, and various forms of adaptation in their daily lives. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that limitations in the father's economic role not only affect the family's economic condition but also influence the dynamics of family social relationships and the continuity of family functioning as a social system.
