Abstract

Pemberitaan mengenai demonstrasi Agustus 2025 menjadi salah satu isu yang banyak mendapat perhatian publik karena melibatkan aksi massa, polisi, serta berbagai peristiwa kerusuhan yang diberitakan secara luas oleh media daring. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan membandingkan framing pemberitaan Kompas.com dan JawaPos.com terhadap kepolisian dalam aksi demonstrasi Agustus 2025 berdasarkan model analisis framing Pan dan Kosicki yang meliputi struktur sintaksis, skrip, tematik, dan retoris. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan paradigma konstruktivisme yang memandang media sebagai pihak yang mengonstruksi realitas melalui proses pemilihan fakta, penyusunan narasi, dan penonjolan aspek tertentu. Objek penelitian berupa enam teks berita yang terdiri atas tiga berita Kompas.com dan tiga berita JawaPos.com. Pemilihan berita didasarkan pada kesesuaiannya dengan fokus penelitian, yaitu pemberitaan demonstrasi Agustus 2025 yang menempatkan kepolisian sebagai objek utama pemberitaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kedua media sama-sama mengonstruksi kepolisian sebagai aktor utama dalam peristiwa demonstrasi, namun dengan kecenderungan framing yang berbeda. Kompas.com secara konsisten membingkai Polisi sebagai pihak yang bertanggung jawab mengendalikan situasi dan memulihkan ketertiban selama demonstrasi berlangsung. Sementara JawaPos.com menghadirkan framing yang lebih beragam, di satu sisi menampilkan Polisi sebagai penegak hukum, tetapi di sisi lain juga memberikan ruang terhadap kritik dan evaluasi atas tindakan Polisi melalui narasumber di luar kepolisian. Berdasarkan perspektif konstruksi realitas sosial Berger dan Luckmann, kedua media tidak sekadar menyampaikan fakta, tetapi mengonstruksi makna mengenai Polisi sesuai dengan strategi framing masing-masing sehingga menghasilkan representasi yang berbeda terhadap Polisi dalam demonstrasi Agustus 2025. ***** News coverage of the August 2025 demonstrations has become a topic of significant public interest because it involved mass protests, police, and various incidents of unrest that were widely reported by online media. This study aims to describe and compare the news framing of Kompas.com and JawaPos.com regarding the police during the August 2025 demonstrations based on Pan and Kosicki’s framing analysis model, which includes syntactic, script, thematic, and rhetorical structures. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method within a constructivist paradigm, which views the media as a party that constructs reality through the processes of selecting facts, constructing narratives, and highlighting specific aspects. The research subjects consist of six news articles, comprising three from Kompas.com and three from JawaPos.com. The selection of news articles was based on their relevance to the research focus, namely coverage of the August 2025 demonstrations that positioned the police as the primary subject of the reports. The research findings show that both media outlets portray the police as the main actors in the demonstrations, but with different framing tendencies. Kompas.com consistently frames the police as the party responsible for controlling the situation and restoring order during the demonstrations. Meanwhile, JawaPos.com presented a more diverse framing: on one hand, it portrayed the police as law enforcers, but on the other hand, it also provided space for criticism and evaluation of police actions through sources outside the police force. Based on Berger and Luckmann’s perspective on the construction of social reality, both media outlets do not merely report facts but construct meanings regarding the police in accordance with their respective framing strategies, thereby producing different representations of the police during the August 2025 demonstrations.
