Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui profil miskonsepsi yang terjadi pada siswa kelas XI sekolah menengah atas pada materi asam basa menggunakan instrumen four-tier diagnostic test. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan desain cross-sectional survey. Instrumen pengumpulan data berupa 15 butir soal tes diagnostik Four-Tier yang telah dinyatakan valid dan reliabel. Hasil analisis data secara statistik deskriptif menunjukkan bahwa kategori miskonsepsi murni (Misconception (MC)) yang dialami siswa pada materi asam basa secara keseluruhan memiliki rata-rata persentase sebesar 13,15%. Selain itu, hasil evaluasi diagnostik juga mendeteksi profil pemahaman siswa lainnya, yaitu kategori Scientific Conception (SC) sebesar 25,37% False Positive (FP) sebesar 19,81%, False Negative (FN) sebesar 10,93%. Hasil persentase tertinggi pada total keseluruhan soal yaitu berada pada kategori Lack of Knowledge (LK) sebesar 30,75%. Temuan ini membuktikan bahwa instrumen Four-Tier Diagnostic Test efektif mengurai profil pemahaman siswa secara komprehensif serta memisahkan miskonsepsi murni dari ketidakpahaman mendasar (Lack of Knowledge (LK)) secara keseluruhan. Implikasi hasil penelitian ini menuntut guru untuk mengoptimalkan penggunaan instrumen diagnostik secara berkala guna mereduksi miskonsepsi siswa di kelas. This study aims to determine the profile of misconceptions occurring among eleventh-grade senior high school students on acid-base material using a four-tier diagnostic test instrument. The research method employed is descriptive quantitative with a cross-sectional survey design. The data collection instrument consisted of 15 diagnostic test items that had been declared valid and reliable. The results of the descriptive statistical data analysis showed that the category of genuine Misconceptions (MC) experienced by students on acid-base material overall had an average percentage of 13.15%. In addition, the diagnostic evaluation results also detected other student understanding profiles, namely the Scientific Conception (SC) category at 25.37%, False Positive (FP) at 19.81%, and False Negative (FN) at 10.93%. The highest percentage in the overall total of questions was in the Lack of Knowledge (LK) category at 30.75%. These findings prove that the Four-Tier Diagnostic Test instrument is effective in comprehensively unraveling students' understanding profiles and separating genuine Misconceptions (MC) from an overall basic Lack of Knowledge (LK). The implications of the results of this study require teachers to optimize the use of diagnostic instruments periodically to reduce students' misconceptions in the classroom.
