Abstract
The phenomenon of delaying marriage is increasingly observed among emerging adults amid concerns about financial readiness, high living costs, and economic uncertainty. This study aims to examine the effect of financial distress on attitudes toward marriage in emerging adults who are in dating relationships in the Jabodetabek area. This research used a quantitative approach with a non probability sampling technique, specifically purposive sampling, involving 254 respondents aged 18–29 years who were unmarried and currently in a dating relationship. The instruments used in this study were the InCharge Financial Distress/Financial Well-being Scale (IFDFW) and the General Attitude Toward Marriage Scale (GAMS). The results of the simple linear regression analysis showed that financial distress had a significant effect on attitudes toward marriage, with a significance value of 0.001 and a coefficient of determination of 0.060, indicating that financial distress contributed 6% to attitudes toward marriage. Thus, financial distress was proven to have an effect on attitudes toward marriage in emerging adults who are in dating relationships in the Jabodetabek area
