Abstract

Perilaku menunda menikah merupakan keputusan individu untuk menunda pernikahan meskipun secara usia dan kondisi sosial telah dianggap matang. Keputusan ini sering kali terjadi dengan alasan harus memenuhi kebutuhan ekonomi generasi sebelumnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji tingkat filial piety dan perilaku menunda menikah pada breadwinner di wilayah Jabodetabek. Fenomena menunda menikah semakin nyata seiring meningkatnya jumlah individu yang berperan sebagai pencari nafkah utama keluarga. Nilai budaya filial piety, yang menekankan bakti dan kepatuhan kepada orang tua, diduga turut memengaruhi keputusan tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif dengan teknik accidental sampling, melibatkan 401 responden breadwinner berusia 29–35 tahun. Instrumen penelitian berupa kuesioner skala Likert yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya (Cronbach’s Alpha filial piety = 0,964; perilaku menunda menikah = 0,911). Hasil analisis deskriptif menunjukkan bahwa dimensi authoritarian filial piety, khususnya terkait restu orang tua sebelum menikah, memperoleh skor tertinggi. Sementara itu, pada variabel perilaku menunda menikah, faktor dominan yang muncul adalah tanggung jawab ekonomi sebagai pencari nafkah utama keluarga dan kekhawatiran terhadap kegagalan rumah tangga. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa filial piety tetap menjadi nilai penting dalam kehidupan keluarga, namun tanggung jawab ekonomi keluarga lebih dominan dalam memengaruhi keputusan menunda pernikahan pada breadwinner. ***** Delaying marriage is an individual's decision to postpone marriage even though they are considered mature by age and social conditions. This decision often occurs due to the need to meet the economic needs of the previous generation. This study aims to examine the level of filial piety and delaying marriage behavior among breadwinners in the Greater Jakarta area. The phenomenon of delaying marriage is increasingly evident as the number of individuals acting as the primary breadwinner of the family increases. The cultural value of filial piety, which emphasizes devotion and obedience to parents, is thought to influence this decision. This study used a descriptive quantitative approach with an accidental sampling technique, involving 401 breadwinner respondents aged 29–35 years. The research instrument was a Likert scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability (Cronbach's Alpha filial piety = 0.964; delaying marriage behavior = 0.911). The results of the descriptive analysis showed that the authoritarian dimension of filial piety, particularly related to parental approval before marriage, obtained the highest score. Meanwhile, in the variable of delaying marriage behavior, the dominant factors that emerged were economic responsibility as the primary breadwinner of the family and concerns about household failure. These findings confirm that filial piety remains an important value in family life, but family economic responsibilities are more dominant in influencing the decision to postpone marriage among breadwinners.
