Abstract
Proses injection molding merupakan metode manufaktur yang banyak digunakan dalam industri plastik karena mampu menghasilkan produk dengan bentuk kompleks, presisi tinggi, dan waktu produksi singkat. Namun, kualitas produk sangat dipengaruhi oleh parameter proses, terutama temperatur dan tekanan injeksi. Pengaturan parameter yang kurang tepat dapat menyebabkan cacat seperti flash, void, sink mark, black speck, serta shrinkage, sehingga perlu diteliti pengaruh variasi parameter tersebut terhadap kualitas hasil cetakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh variasi temperatur dan tekanan injeksi terhadap kualitas produk gagang obeng berbahan polypropylene (PP) menggunakan mesin injection molding vertical bersistem pneumatik. Penelitian menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan variasi temperatur 220°C, 230°C, dan 240°C, serta tekanan 4.0, 4.5, dan 5.0 bar, masing-masing tiga replikasi. Evaluasi kualitas dilakukan melalui pengamatan visual, pengukuran shrinkage panjang dan diameter, serta mikroskop optik. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan temperatur cenderung meningkatkan shrinkage, sedangkan peningkatan tekanan umumnya menurunkannya karena pengisian cavity lebih baik. Shrinkage terendah diperoleh pada temperatur 220°C dan tekanan 5.0 bar (0,87% panjang; 0,146% diameter), dengan permukaan lebih homogen. Sebaliknya, temperatur 240°C menghasilkan shrinkage tertinggi disertai berbagai cacat. Kombinasi 220°C dan 5.0 bar disimpulkan sebagai parameter paling optimal. However, product quality is strongly influenced by process parameters, particularly injection temperature and pressure. Improper parameter settings can cause defects such as flash, voids, sink marks, black specks, and shrinkage, making it necessary to study the effect of these parameter variations on molding quality. This study aims to analyze the effect of temperature and injection pressure variations on the quality of screwdriver handle products made from polypropylene (PP), processed using a pneumatic-based vertical injection molding machine. An experimental method was used with temperature variations of 220°C, 230°C, and 240°C, and injection pressures of 4.0, 4.5, and 5.0 bar, each with three replications. Quality evaluation was carried out through visual observation, shrinkage measurement of length and diameter, and optical microscope examination. Results show that increasing temperature tends to increase shrinkage, while increasing injection pressure generally reduces it due to better cavity filling. The lowest shrinkage was obtained at 220°C and 5.0 bar (0.87% length; 0.146% diameter), with a more homogeneous surface. Conversely, 240°C produced the highest shrinkage along with various defects.
