Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pola asuh otoriter ayah terhadap self-esteem pada mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan melibatkan 276 partisipan yang merupakan mahasiswa di Indonesia, dengan rentang usia 18-25 tahun. Teknik sampling yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah non-probability sampling dengan metode convenience sampling. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) yang dikembangkan oleh Morris Rosenberg (1965) dan Parental Authority Questionnaire (PAQ) yang dikembangkan oleh John R. Buri (1991). Kedua alat ukur tersebut, yaitu RSES dan PAQ, diadaptasi oleh penulis agar sesuai dengan karakteristik partisipan dalam penelitian ini. Untuk menguji hipotesis, teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis regresi linear sederhana. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pola asuh otoriter ayah memiliki pengaruh negatif dan signifikan terhadap self-esteem pada mahasiswa. Hal ini ditunjukkan oleh nilai signifikansi sebesar 0.034, p < 0.05, sehingga hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima. Namun, nilai R Square hanya sebesar 0,016 yang artinya pola asuh otoriter ayah memberikan kontribusi sebesar 1.6% terhadap self-esteem pada mahasiswa dan sisanya dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain. Kata Kunci : Pola Asuh Otoriter, Pola Asuh Otoriter Ayah, Self-Esteem, Mahasiswa **** This study aim to examine the influence of father’s authoritarian parenting style on college student’s self-esteem. This study employed a quantitative method involving 276 participants who were college students in Indonesia, aged 18-25 years old. The sampling technique used in this study was non-probability sampling with convenience sampling method. The research instruments used in this study were the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) developed by Morris Rosenberg (1965) and the Parental Authority Questionnaire (PAQ) developed by John R. Buri (1991). Both measuring instruments, RSES and PAQ, were adapted by the author to suit characteristics of the participants in this study. To test the hypothesis, the data analysis technique used was simple linear regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that fathers' authoritarian parenting styles have a negative and significant influence on students' self-esteem. This is indicated by a significance value of 0.034, p < 0.05, so the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. However, the R Square value is only 0.016, which means that fathers' authoritarian parenting styles contribute 1.6% to students' self-esteem, with the remainder influenced by other factors.
