Abstract

Penelitian ini mengukur kecemasan finansial berdasarkan empat dimensi, yaitu appraisal of insufficient financial resources, appraisal of lack of control, financial rumination and worry, dan short-term focus. ***** Financial constraints are a problem for students, especially those who must cover some or all of their financial needs independently while studying. This condition has the potential to trigger financial anxiety, a negative psychological and emotional response in the form of ongoing worry and discomfort about personal financial situations, which can impact mental health, academic performance, social life, and financial decision-making. This study aims to analyze the level of financial anxiety among active students of the Faculty of Engineering, Jakarta State University, intake 2022-2025 who are studying while working. This study used a descriptive quantitative approach with a non-probability sampling technique in the form of purposive sampling, involving 100 respondents determined using the Cochran formula. Primary data were collected online through a 4-point Likertscale questionnaire referring to the Psychological Inventory of Financial Scarcity (PIFS) instrument. This study measured financial anxiety based on four dimensions: Appraisal of Insufficient Financial Resources, Appraisal of Lack of Control, Financial Rumination and Worry, an d Short-Term Focus. The results showed that the Appraisal Lack of Control dimension had the highest average score, at 62.16%, and the Appraisal of Insufficient Financial Resources dimension had the lowest average score, at 56.26%. Thus, overall, students' financial anxiety levels were in the low category (48%), followed by medium (39%) and high (13%). This study emphasizes the importance of personal financial management education and the optimization of targeted scholarship programs to reduce work pressure experienced by students during their studies.
