Abstract

Kata kunci: moral conviction, politicized identity, group-based anger, group efficacy, collective action, ESIMCA, PLS-SEM ***** In contemporary social contexts, collective action has become an increasingly salient response to perceived injustice, making it important to understand the psychological processes that motivate individuals to engage in such actions. One influential framework is the Social Identity Model of Collective Action (SIMCA), which highlights the roles of moral conviction, politicized identity, group-based anger, and group efficacy in predicting collective action intentions and behavior. This study aimed to examine the applicability of an extended ESIMCA in the context of a specific collective action case, focusing on the direct and indirect effects of Moral Conviction, Politicized Identity, Group-Based Anger, and Group Efficacy on Collective Action. A quantitative cross-sectional survey design was employed. Data were collected using self-report instruments measuring Moral Conviction, Politicized Identity, Group-Based Anger, Group Efficacy, and Collective Action from 275 participants (after the removal of outliers). The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to assess both the measurement and structural models. The results indicated that Group-Based Anger and Group Efficacy had significant positive effects on Collective Action, whereas Moral Conviction and Politicized Identity did not show significant direct effects. However, Moral Conviction and Politicized Identity contributed indirectly through mediating paths involving Group-Based Anger and Group Efficacy. The overall model explained 93.8% of the variance in Collective Action (R-square = 0.938), providing partial support for ESIMCA and underscoring the central role of emotional and efficacy-based processes in shaping individuals’ readiness to engage in collective action. Keywords: moral conviction, politicized identity, group-based anger, group efficacy, collective action, ESIMCA, PLS-SEM
