Abstract

***** This study aimed to examine the effect of emotional maturity on marital readiness among early adults with divorced parents. This study employed a quantitative approach using a purposive sampling technique involving 152 participants aged 20–30 years. Data were collected using the Emotional Maturity Scale (EMS) developed by Singh and Bhargava (1990) and the Sukoon Marital Readiness Scale (SMRS) developed by Husain and Nadeem (2022). Data were analyzed using simple linear regression, Independent Samples t-test, One-Way ANOVA, and multiple regression with the assistance of SPSS version 29. The results indicated that emotional maturity did not have a significant effect on marital readiness (p = 0.467 > 0.05), indicating that the research hypothesis was rejected. Additional analyses showed that age was the only demographic characteristic with a significant difference in marital readiness, while the five dimensions of emotional maturity did not simultaneously have a significant effect on marital readiness. Therefore, emotional maturity was not a significant predictor of marital readiness among early adults with divorced parents.
