Abstract

***** This study aims to describe the characterization of Tamon comprehensively, identify the characteristics of his inferiority based on the principle of inferiority in Alfred Adler’s Individual Psychology theory, and describe Tamon’s resilience as an effort to overcome his inferiority based on the resilience theory proposed by Reivich and Shatte. This study employed a literary psychology approach using a qualitative descriptive method. The research data consisted of dialogues, other characters’ reactions, and Tamon’s behaviors that reflect his characterization, inferiority, and resilience. Data were collected through observation and note-taking techniques, while the data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that Tamon possesses contrasting personality traits, namely being handsome, talented, gloomy, and introverted. Furthermore, nine characteristics of inferiority were identified: fear, self-doubt, insecurity, shame, cowardice, need for support, submissiveness, self-deprecation, and masochism. The most dominant characteristic is insecurity, which stems from Tamon’s negative self-evaluation. In overcoming his inferiority, Tamon demonstrates resilience through six aspects: emotional regulation, optimism, causal analysis, empathy, self-efficacy, and reaching out. The aspect of impulse control was not found in the research data. The most dominant aspect is self-efficacy, reflected in Tamon’s confidence in carrying out his role as an idol. These findings reveal that although Tamon experiences various characteristics of inferiority, he is able to recover through resilience and continue fulfilling his role as an idol.
