Abstract

Popularitas otome game, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat pengaruh Parasocial Relationship terhadap Romantic Beliefs pada perempuan pemain otome game di Indonesia. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif korelasional dengan desain cross-sectional. Sebanyak 184 responden perempuan berusia 20-37 tahun yang aktif bermain otome game berpartisipasi dalam penelitian ini melalui teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan secara daring menggunakan kuesioner Google Form yang terdiri dari Multiple Parasocial Relationship Scale (MPRs) oleh Tukachinsky (2010) untuk mengukur Parasocial Relationship dan Romantic Beliefs Scale (RBs) oleh Sprecher & Metts (1989) untuk mengukur Romantic Beliefs. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis regresi linear sederhana menggunakan bantuan IBM SPSS versi 26. Hasil analisis menunjukkan adanya pengaruh positif yang signifikan antara Parasocial Relationship terhadap Romantic Beliefs (0,001 < 0,05). Nilai R Square didapatkan sebesar 0,193 mengindikasikan bahwa parasocial relationship berkontribusi sebesar 19,3% terhadap variasi pembentukan romantic beliefs pada responden. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa Parsocial Relationship dengan karakter otome game berkaitan dengan Romantic Beliefs pada perempuan dewasa awal. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa mayoritas responden memiliki potensi untuk merasa tidak puas akan hubungan didunia nyata dikarenakan ekspektasi yang tidak realistis dan tidak sesuai dengan gambaran yang terbentuk melalui media ***** Given the popularity of otome games, this study aims to determine whether parasocial relationships influence romantic beliefs among female otome game players in Indonesia. The research approach used was a quantitative correlational study with a cross-sectional design. A total of 184 female respondents aged 20–37 who actively play otome games participated in this study through purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted online using a Google Forms questionnaire consisting of the Multiple Parasocial Relationship Scale (MPRs) by Tukachinsky (2010) to measure parasocial relationships and the Romantic Beliefs Scale (RBs) by Sprecher & Metts (1989) to measure romantic beliefs. The data analysis technique used was simple linear regression analysis using IBM SPSS version 26. The results of the analysis show a significant positive relationship between parasocial relationships and romantic beliefs (0.001 < 0.05). The R-squared value of 0.193 indicates that parasocial relationships account for 19.3% of the variation in the formation of romantic beliefs among the respondents. These findings suggest that parasocial relationships with characters in otome games are associated with romantic beliefs among young adult women. This indicates that the majority of respondents have the potential to feel dissatisfied with their real-world relationships due to unrealistic expectations that do not align with the images formed through the media.
