Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan melihat representasi eufemisme yang dipakai dalam lirik lagu-lagu AKB48 Group melalui kajian pragmatik. Data penelitian didapat dari lagu-lagu oleh AKB48 Group yang telah disortir menjadi 14 lagu bertemakan topik tabu atau sensitif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik simak dan catat dan analisis data menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data dianalisis untuk melihat jenis eufemisme, bentuk eufemisme, dan fungsi eufemisme berdasarkan teori Allan & Burridge (1988, 1991) dan Burridge (2012). Berdasarkan kriterianya, ditemukan total 39 data dari 14 lagu. Jenis eufemisme analogi ditemukan sebanyak 30 data, distorsi sebanyak 6 data, internal dan eksternal borrowing sebanyak 4 data. Kemudian, dari 17 bentuk eufemisme hanya 8 bentuk eufemisme yang muncul, yaitu metafora sebanyak 23 data, understatement dengan 6 data, sirkumlokusi dengan 6 data, borrowing dengan 2 data, general-for-specific dengan 1 data, part-for-specific dengan 1 data, full-omission dengan 1 data, dan kolokial dengan 1 data. Eufemisme digunakan paling banyak sebagai pelindung dengan 31 data, pencitraan dengan 8 data, provokatif dengan 4 data, penyamaran sebanyak 2 data, penghibur sebanyak 2 data, dan tidak ada data yang digunakan sebagai penyatu. ***** This study aims to analyze the use of euphemisms within AKB48 Group’s song lyrics through a pragmatics study. The data were sourced from songs released by AKB48 Group, which then narrowed down to 14 songs containing taboo or sensitive topics. Data collection was conducted by listening and noting down technique and analyzed with a qualitative descriptive method. The data were analyzed using Allan and Burridge (1988, 1991)’s and Burridge (2012)’s theory on euphemism in order to identify the types and forms, and functions it served. A total of 39 data met the criteria of euphemisms from 14 songs chosen. Among these, 30 data were classified as analogical euphemisms, 6 data as distortions, and 4 data as internal and external borrowings. Of the 17 forms of euphemism, only 8 appeared: metaphors (23 instances), understatement (6 instances), circumlocution (6 instances), borrowing (2 instances), general-for-specific (1 instance), part-for-specific (1 instance), full omission (1 instance), and colloquial (1 instance). These data were most frequently used to serve as the protective euphemism with 31 instances found, 8 instances as the uplifting euphemism, 4 instances as the provocative euphemism, 2 instances as the underhand euphemism, 2 instances as the ludic euphemism, and none used as the cohesive euphemism.
