Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh hasil penilaian terhadap transformasi motif lukisan kulit kayu Pulau Asei dalam perancangan tas fesyen kontemporer berdasarkan aspek estetika, yang meliputi wujud atau rupa, bobot atau isi, serta penampilan atau penyajian. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimen. Penelitian ini menghasilkan lima produk tas fesyen kontemporer melalui proses transformasi motif menggunakan strategi deconstruction (decomposition) serta operasi pengurangan, penambahan, dan perubahan dimensi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan angket yang diberikan kepada panelis ahli di bidang fesyen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh produk memperoleh kategori sangat bagus (SB) dengan rentang nilai 81,2% hingga 89,6%. Secara umum, transformasi motif mampu mempertahankan karakter visual motif asli serta menghasilkan pengolahan bentuk yang adaptif terhadap desain kontemporer. Namun, pada beberapa hasil, tingkat penyederhanaan dan pengembangan bentuk mempengaruhi keterbacaan identitas motif serta komposisi visual produk. Dengan demikian, transformasi motif lukisan kulit kayu Pulau Asei dapat diterapkan dalam pengembangan tas fesyen kontemporer yang memiliki nilai estetika tinggi serta tetap mengandung identitas budaya. ***** This study aims to obtain evaluation results of the transformation of Pulau Asei bark painting motifs in the design of contemporary fashion bags based on aesthetic aspects, which include appearance, content, and presentation. The research employs a quantitative approach using an experimental method. This study produced five contemporary fashion bag designs through a motif transformation process using a deconstruction (decomposition) strategy, as well as operations of reduction, addition, and dimensional modification. Data were collected using questionnaires administered to expert panelists in the field of fashion. The results indicate that all products achieved a “very good” category, with scores ranging from 81.2% to 89.6%. Overall, the transformation process was able to retain the visual characteristics of the original motifs while producing forms that are adaptable to contemporary design. However, in some cases, the level of simplification and modification affected the legibility of the motif identity and the overall visual composition of the products. In conclusion, the transformation of Asei Island bark painting motifs can be applied in the development of contemporary fashion bags that possess high aesthetic value while maintaining cultural identity.
