Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan instrumen tes kognitif berbasis Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) pada materi Basic Maintenance program Fundamental Safety Training (FST) untuk teknisi PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM), serta menguji kualitas terukurnya. Metode penelitian menggunakan Research and Development (R&D) model Borg dan Gall yang disederhanakan menjadi tujuh tahap. Instrumen dirancang berupa 30 butir soal pilihan ganda level C4, C5, dan C6 Taksonomi Anderson dan Krathwohl. Validasi isi melibatkan tiga ahli menggunakan indeks Aiken’s V, sedangkan uji coba empiris dilakukan pada 52 teknisi maintenance. Hasil validasi isi menunjukkan seluruh butir valid (Aiken’s V = 0,72–1,00). Hasil uji empiris menunjukkan 26 dari 30 butir dinyatakan valid menggunakan Point-Biserial (4 butir dieliminasi), dengan reliabilitas KR-20 sebesar 0,928 (kategori sangat tinggi). Dominasi tingkat kesukaran kategori mudah mencerminkan tingginya kompetensi dan pengalaman kerja teknisi, bukan kelemahan soal. Kesimpulannya, instrumen tes kognitif ini valid, reliabel, dan layak digunakan sebagai alat evaluasi kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi teknisi di industri otomotif. ***** This study aims to develop a Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)-based cognitive test instrument for the Basic Maintenance material within the Fundamental Safety Training (FST) program for technicians at PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM), and to examine its psychometric properties. The research employed a simplified seven stage Borg and Gall Research and Development (R&D) model. The instrument comprises 30 multiple-choice items representing C4, C5, and C6 cognitive levels of the Anderson and Krathwohl taxonomy. Content validation involved three experts using the Aiken’s V index, while empirical testing involved 52 maintenance technicians. Content validation results showed all items were valid (Aiken’s V = 0.72–1.00). Empirical testing revealed that 26 of 30 items were valid using Point Biserial correlation (4 items eliminated), with a high reliability coefficient (KR-20 = 0.928). The dominance of easy items reflects the technicians' high competence and work experience rather than item construction weakness. In conclusion, the developed test instrument is valid, reliable, and suitable as an evaluation tool for measuring technicians' higher-order thinking skills in the automotive industry.
