Abstract

Putus sekolah tidak hanya menghentikan proses pendidikan formal, tetapi juga memengaruhi perkembangan psikologis, sosial, dan masa depan remaja. Penelitian ini bertujuan memahami proses resiliensi remaja putus sekolah yang melanjutkan pendidikan di PKBM Negeri Jakarta. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan fenomenologi Creswell dan Poth (2018) dengan melibatkan lima remaja putus sekolah yang dipilih melalui purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, dianalisis menggunakan analisis fenomenologi, serta diuji melalui member checking dan triangulasi teori. Hasil penelitian menghasilkan enam tema utama, yaitu (1) kehidupan remaja sebelum mengalami putus sekolah, (2) tekanan yang mengantarkan pada pengalaman putus sekolah, (3) mengalami kehilangan diri setelah putus sekolah, (4) menemukan harapan untuk bangkit kembali, (5) PKBM sebagai ruang untuk memulai kehidupan baru, dan (6) menjadi pribadi yang bertumbuh melalui pengalaman putus sekolah. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa seluruh partisipan menjalani proses resiliensi melalui tahapan keseimbangan awal, tekanan, disruption, kesiapan menuju reintegrasi, hingga resilient reintegration. Meskipun menghadapi faktor risiko yang berbeda, seluruh partisipan mampu mencapai resilient reintegration melalui dukungan keluarga, guru, teman sebaya, lingkungan PKBM, motivasi, refleksi diri, dan orientasi masa depan. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa resiliensi merupakan proses dinamis yang terbentuk melalui interaksi faktor risiko dan faktor protektif dalam sistem sosioekologis, serta memberikan dasar empiris bagi pengembangan layanan Bimbingan dan Konseling di pendidikan nonformal. ***** Dropping out of school not only interrupts the formal education process but also affects adolescents’ psychological and social development, as well as their future. This study aims to understand the resilience process of out-of-school adolescents who continue their education at the Jakarta State Community Learning Center (PKBMN Jakarta). The study employs the phenomenological approach proposed by Creswell and Poth (2018) and involves five out-of-school adolescents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, analyzed using phenomenological analysis, and validated through member checking and theoretical triangulation. The results yielded six main themes: (1) the adolescents’ lives before dropping out of school, (2) the pressures leading to the experience of dropping out, (3) experiencing a sense of loss of self after dropping out, (4) finding hope to bounce back, (5) the PKBM as a space to start a new life, and (6) personal growth through the experience of dropping out. The findings indicate that all participants underwent a resilience process through the stages of initial equilibrium, stress, disruption, readiness for reintegration, and finally, resilient reintegration. Despite facing different risk factors, all participants were able to achieve resilient reintegration through support from family, teachers, peers, the PKBM environment, motivation, self-reflection, and future orientation. These findings confirm that resilience is a dynamic process shaped by the interaction of risk and protective factors within a socio-ecological system and provide an empirical basis for the development of guidance and counseling services in nonformal education.
